What seat (make/model/size) do you have? If you had to buy a seat now, what would you get? What would you avoid?

I would buy another Ultra-Shield in a heart-beat.

Kirkey Intermediate Road Race. Very sturdy and very comfortable seat, fits me well. If I was in the market, I would buy the same thing.

Ultrashield. Mine is a 16.5". They have models very similar to Kirkey. Those would be my only two I would pick from.

Ultrashield Road Race w/halo... Had to decrease the size of the halo on the passenger side so I could see my mirrors, but it was pretty easy to do.

Michael got a different (or updated) Ultrashield that is pretty sweet, but it hasn't been installed yet.

Ultrashield Road Race w/halo... +1

Might consider the custom Ultrashield if I ever need to get a new one.

Mine is also a 20 degree. It spent 2001-2004 in my street car and then was moved to my CMC car. I never expected this seat to hold up this well. I'm very impressed w/ it. The newer models had a different angle on the upper head area ro make them more HANS compatable.

I have the Sparco Pro-Advantage. The halo could be about an inch shorter on the driver's side to help with car exit. Otherwise, seat is great. Has just enough cushion but not too much. It also has great leg support to help with heel-toe. Plus, its half the cost of the Recaro. If you want to inspect you're welcome to stop by.

I've heard of some people ordering their aluminum seats several sizes too big and then pouring a formula car style seat insert - the idea was to get the strength and longevity of the aluminum seat and the insert to have the impact characteristics similar to a composite seat. Win-win supposedly.

Thanks for all of the good info guys. I'm trying to decide if I should buy a new seat for the poorsha...

I went to Randy's last night to sit in his ultrashield full containment halo seat...its a nice rig and 16" is the right size for me. Dont know if I'll pull the trigger though...

Maybe I should just drive Al's Camaro this season since my race car is in three separate piles and he's driving a Porsche. All I need are just a few stickers.
