What was the name of the annual race held in Abilene?
It was held at an industrial park and a municipal airport.

Also, wasn't there a street course laid out in Waco?

Sunburn Grand Prix

I've never heard of anything in Waco. There was an event in Copperas Cove.

The Sunburn Grand Prix was very different on the sowdiv scca schedule as it was a very well-promoted public event. There were a LOT of spectators that came out and filled the stands (portable bleachers, this is at the airport). Vendors for concessions as well as some local things were out in force the years that I attended.

Never heard of a Waco event, but I only started running in sowdiv in the early 90s, so if it was before that, I don't know.
