The first year I followed Rob and we went through Sherman on 75. I did not like going through so many towns so I came back through Ok city on 35. Was just looking on mapquest and I can save 48 miles by staying on 35W instead of 35 E (make Jay drive over to Denton) but looking at the way we usually go from Ok, City to Hallett we were going up through Stillwater. What about taking 33 at Guthrie out through Cushing to 99? Are those roads okay? Mapquest wants you to go up to 64/412 and over to Hallett. That adds another 19 miles!

I've tried several different ways to get there.

By far the best way is 35 => 44 => 99

I've travelled through OKC to Guthrie and 33 over and it becomes a pig trail for about 50 miles.

Last year, Casey and I took I40 from OKC to 99 and up through Drumright to Hallett. No Bueno. We came back on the 33 to I35W - so much better! The 33 is a nice road. There's a bypass at Drumright (it takes you north of town) before you get to that motel that takes you around the little town but if you miss it it's not too bad. Plus, I35W is a straight shot from Austin/Georgetown.

Anyone else leaving Thursday?

I'm linking up with Sam and the guys from College Station near Waco around noon and then meeting Brian in Denton on the way up.

I will be leaving Waco around noon also. I will see you on the road. I can't drive as fast as you can. About 70 is it unless I want to get 5 MPG instead of 7.

Each time I went to Hallett, that was the route I always took.

I'm jealous of you folks going to Hallett this weekend.....

Be safe, have fun!

Dan Allford and I will be driving up that way on Thursday.

The best part about taking the group's common route is that there is a better chance of getting help from one of the other racers if you break down.

Same route here. Plan is to leave Pearland about 5:00am and try to get there ahead of the trailer delivery. See you chaps there.

I'm meeting up with Eddie at the Bellmead Whataburger (North Waco) around 11:00 for brunch and a spot of tea.

Corn is tagging along with us, so if the two of you are allowed to be in public together, you're more than welcome to join.

I left this morning, visited a customer in Alvarado today and another in Stillwater tomorrow. Still fighting a high tongue weight on the trailer so weighed the rig on the way. 19,320 lbs with me in the truck.

Hallett tower, Eight Five heavy on approach!

Steve and I came up yesterday. Drama ....

Several miles of construction on 35 .. one lane each way.

48 lost a trailer tire outside OKC and I lost a trailer tire on the turnpike.

Found a Toyo dealer in Tulsa that gave us a big discount once we told him Toyo was our spec tire and that the RA1s and 888s were an awesome tire.

and that the ... 888s were an awesome tire.
did you have to say that with a straight face? :p

(KB, liked the RA1 in his HPDE/TT only days fwiw, but was not a fan of the 888)
