City voted thumbs up for the track. Now the V8 supercars rumor has been confirmed. This is more exciting than F1...

Australian V8 Supercars Series officials have agreed to a five-year deal to hold races at a racetrack under construction southeast of Austin beginning in 2013, circuit officials along with Gov. Rick Perry said today.
Under the deal, Circuit of the Americas will hold two 124-mile races each year, which will be televised live in North and South America on the Speed cable network, officials said.

I think I'm dizzy. i must go home early now.

The Australian V8 SuperCar Series in some of the best tin-top racing. I guess I left TX too soon. ;)

Looks like I'll be making at least 2, if not 3 trips to Austin in the near future - F1, V8SS, and MotoGP.

You are ahead of the game.

Let's throw a cage in and Holden badges on the G8 ...

I'm pumped. I watch the Aussie V8s and MotoGP every chance I get. Never thought I'd get to see both in Texas.

Agreed. My oldest son (Ray) and I started going to the MotoGP race at Laguna when he moved here in 2008, and have been every year since. This year, we have a camping pass, and will be making an entire weekend out of it, sleeping in the back of my truck (like any other track weekend!!).

They are HUGE events. Lot's of great eye candy, in many forms. :)

Thanks for the heads up. And regarding the support series, we both do have standing starts!

The support series idea seems worth pursuing - I would not have a guess as to whether its doable or not but it would be a shame to not at least give it 100% effort.
Think about a National crossover event and how that would play out for NASA....calling all NASA officials, how about it?

I wonder if Kunzman is leaving voicemail about a NASA National event in 2013?

I ask about that at Hallett and Dave said yes Nasa is already talking to them. I'm sure Nats will be held there at some point. Only way Team Jordan will ever see a National event is if we have one in Austin. I hope we get to run it for reagonal events. It would be cool to have the first NASA event held there to be a Nationals so nobody has an advantage. Also a NASA nationals held in Austin would have 40+ cars in CMC and blow away any car count from Utah or Ohio. Plus we all know where the fastest drivers in the country are. Every region has a fast guy or two but in Texas.............
