Boy this is expensive. I wish we could lower the cost of racing (I have some ideas) to help grow the series.

This year I have spent

$30.00 co-pay for physical If you are an old fart like Randy and I you get to do this every other year

$45.00 membership to NASA This is total BS......why do I need a membership and a license?

$85.00 License fee to NASA

$1000.00 four new tires.

$75.00 mount and balance five tires.......three of my five wheels are bent so I guess here is another $500.00 I'm going to spend soon

$138.00 2 new hubs

$34.00 10 ARP wheel studs

$200.00 new fluids front to rear

$450.00 new brake pads and rotors

Still have to get a dyno $75.00

$300.00 sign up for MSRH

So I've already spent $2432.00 in one month.

I do all my own work (even building my engines) I can't imagine paying someone to do all this. I know I need a new diff as I hear a lot of noise coming from there since the axle tube broke loose at Hallett. So I guess I'm going to spend another grand on this in a few weeks. I started racing CMC because I thought it was not going to cost allot. Boy was I wrong. My biggest bitch is the F'ing Toyo's. I used to get a six race season out of six of the old 16" RA1's. I will go through at least 10 of the new 17" RA1's in a season. That alone added a grand to a season of racing. I'm sure I am forgetting something plus I traded sheet metal work for some new items on my car that I have no idea the cost of. Okay, I vented. I'm finished.

I feel your pain. Start up at the first of the year is a real b&^#%. By the time I get everything paid off on mine it'll be a vintage racer.

I am 100% with you.... it makes you not want to race before you ever get started. I purchased BRAND NEW tires for ECR.... I might make 1 day at MSRH on them. I will have to run thin to wins until the Toyo money comes in.

Some of the nickle and dime stuff definitely gets old.

I would like to finish up my little Triumph I have been working for a couple of years, but I keep spending every dollar I have on racing.

5 qts oil from Walmart - $25
new oil filter - $5
new roll of duct tape to hide the collision marks -$7
rotated tires on car - 30 minutes
inspected all nuts & bolts and tightened - 1 hour
Tank of gas (high octane) - $50

Buy a Chevy and race with the mid-pack slackers instead of the Trophy girls.

I would like to see us go to a tire that is hard as hell and would last all season. Remember it's a driver series.

I say we find a spec tire with a mileage warranty. I have a few connections at Discount Tire.. :)

Dunlop Direzza street tires, 200 treadwear would get my vote!!! Amazing grip for what they are.

Have everything to grid the car next week... @220hp/290tq... no longer a competetive car...

Me too. If we are all the same one it doesnt make any difference anyways.

I'm not sure at MSRH you would see that much (if any) difference being 40hp and 20tq down.

Both MSR's are not really HP tracks. That said I do want all I can get.

I agree with Jerry. When I ran Cresson last weekend, I didn't see much laptime difference between 323/335 and 359/369...

It is all about balance - horsepower and balls. An excess of one reduces the necessity for the other.

I know it's early, but this has my vote for Quote of the Year!
