View Full Version : So who'd be up for a CMC Outlaw class?

Noodled on this for a while ...

Basically take the CMC1 rules with the following exceptions:

No annual dyno - gentleman's word of honor
16" tires with a 100 treadwear rating or harder

no contingencies or incentives
no points
no trophies

If you have contact, you are sent home.
If you screw up a points race, you are sent home

Line up at the back of the field
Grid according to a random drawing
Finishing order is compiled if someone decides to sort through Mylaps on Monday morning and publish it.

Have to meet all NASA tech and safety requirments.

Internet trash talk is mandatory.

Interesting idea but I really don't see how this would work for you? You would pretty much be at the back of the field nowadays anyway so what's the difference? Though I would like to have you on track but would still miss you for the saturday night party since you would have already been sent home for contact.

I can't run with you since my car is illegal for CMC1 but I would enjoy the trash talk.

What is wrong with just going back to CMC-1 rules? If you are not going to nationals who cares? Finding a tire that would last a season would be great also and who cares how fast they are. I agree with stiffer contact rules and enforcing them but I do like points even though I'm never at the top. All I need is a restrictor plate and some 16" wheels.

I still have 16" wheels and a stack of restrictors. If the "gentlemen" can agree to more racing room and some definition on "aggressive driving," I think the contact goes way down. I would also be up for a longer lasting tire, even at the expense of total grip.

You said trash talking was mandatory? I was expecting some back.

I find this somewhat intersting. Of the proposed items, ones I would consider for adjusting:
no annual dyno: 230hp? i like 260 but perhaps tire factor is a limiting item. or are 3rd gen/fox cars the consideration?
points: I like points, even though I am seemingly issued less than most.....
'you are sent home': i don't like contact either but being, cough, sent home is a bit much. maybe dropping all points or immediate re-grid to back-o-the-pack on the next race. Or something less than "nana a bobo you can't play". Maybe no W2W for next race (limited penalty) and TT/real-CMC only.
grid order: 1st race random, rest ALL invert.
tires: any idea what would work for decent grip (cornering thrill) but yet better wear rate?
trash talk: I'm no good at that. best you'll get is "you suck and your mother late brakes better than you"

oh, and mismatched body work is preferred

You 16" with 888's for longer lasting tire wear.

Points would be difficult to police, as if an "out of town" guy comes to play that's actually legal for CMC, you guys would all have to "fun run". However, if you wanted to do your own CMC "Outlaw" points, that could work. Bring it up with Dave if you think it will gel. AIX Outlaw is working really well on the left coast. I think that type of mentality could work. Assign a value for the "oh my god, the 4th gens have a SLA" and penalize them 0.1LB/HP. Big brakes, same thing... Etc. Eventually Michael's Lemon's car would be competitive!

I'm all for more cars on track in our group. No reason why something like this couldn't work. I agree with Love that an original CMC car can still podium and still collect normal points, toyo bucks if on the right tire.

Is your intention to run a tire different than the RA1? Isn't it 100 treadwear. Whatever the Mosty's have run on the Lemon's car they said could be a great tire. Which vintage CMC ruleset are you going to follow? Don't allow the ricer wings that were allowed for awhile.
NTO1's would be a suggested tire. My understanding is you don't have to get them shaved because of the tread depth and you can get them heat cycled I think from Tire Rack for only $10 a piece.

I have a .pdf copy of the 2007 & 2008 CMC rules.

Geez ... leave it to a bunch of engineers to complicate things.

Points race turns otherwise sane drivers into red-mist idiots.
First couple times some one gets butt-hurt and told to go home, that contact shit will stop.
Dyno cert ... if I can't trust you as a human being, I don't want to race with you, you lying sack of shit.

Not open to CMC officials ... conflict of interest and, quite frankly, they are the worst offenders.
They think they have indestructable shields or something.

Bryan, does that meet the trash-talk threshold?
