NAPA Valley, Calif. - The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) is continuing its preparations for the seventh annual NASA Championships presented by Toyo Tires at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course to run September 6-9, 2012. The NASA Championships will feature nearly 350 cars in 37 classes competing over the three day weekend.

NASA is offering several ways for fans to follow the action during the Championship weekend. NASA will be working in conjunction with SpeedcastTV.com again this year to bring all the racing action live from Mid-Ohio via webcast at http://www.speedcasttv.com/nasa. Live timing and scoring from the event can be seen on the NASA website at http://www.nasaproracing.com/liveresults/champs.
"Thanks to our many important sponsors, we are proud to partner with SpeedcastTV.com again this year to offer live webcast coverage of the NASA Championships," Jeremy Croiset, NASA Director of Sponsorship said. "We have worked hard throughout the year to bring a number of new and exciting additions to the broadcast this year. This live feed affords our membership as well as competitors' family members, friends, fans and sponsors who can't make it to Mid-Ohio for NASA's biggest weekend of the year, the opportunity to watch the best NASA racers from across the nation compete live as it unfolds on the SpeedcastTV.com live broadcast. Fans can also follow us on Facebook at National Auto Sport Association and on Twitter at nasaproracing."

NASA fans can see both Saturday's and Sunday's races live, entirely free of cost at http://www.speedcastTV.com/nasa. The live broadcast will start Saturday, September 8 at 10:30 a.m. EST and run until 4:15 p.m. EST. Live action will resume Sunday, September 9 at 10:30 a.m. EST and conclude at 4:00 p.m. EST. Be sure to check out the NASA Championships schedule at http://www.nasaproracing.com/nationals/ ... 2_V1.9.pdf to see when your favorite class will be airing live from the event. On-demand replays of each day's live webcast will also be available minutes after the live webcast ends. Individual races will be released for on-demand viewing during the following week.

"We're very excited to have the opportunity to work with NASA again this year to bring the live action and excitement of the NASA Championships to folks all around the world," Clark Cambern, President of SpeedcastTV.com Productions said. "We've got a number of new items in store for this year's broadcast and fans will want to be sure to catch the live action. This year's show will truly be world-class."

The NASA National Championships presented by Toyo Tires will begin with open practice on Thursday, September 7 with competition running Saturday, September 8 and Sunday, September 9 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

heh and here I was thinking I was the only one watching. Lots of improvement for Dan early in the session, kept chopping around half a second off each lap. Keep at it! :)

Are y'all using the following link:
http://www.nasaproracing.com/liveresults/champs
I can get to that page but it doesn't show anything lap time related.
It also appears mylaps has everything updated except for CMC.
I did see Mark qualified 11th in AI. Right in the middle of all the action!!

the big cleanup yesterday was from the GTS group when SE Regional Director Jim Pantas couldn't avoid a stopped GTS 944 on track.

From what I've read the 944 went up in flames very quickly after impact and the driver was quickly overcome by smoke. Jim jumped to the rescue and pulled the guy out before 944 driver recieved anything worse than minor burns so no one was seriously injured as a result of Jim's quick thinking and reactions. Kudos!

Hello, I am SpeedcastTV, and I suck Nissan's dick.
This coverage is total crap!! They should have put the 5 spec Z cars by themselves in their own run group if that is all they were going to show.

No kidding what BS. Real nice 2 car race and crash fest. No coverage of the CMC start or the FFR start, what a bummer.

SPEC Z is a new class and NASA was obviously trying to help it grow. I think it had good car count for as new as it is. I still feel like you guys. Spread it out more.

I wonder of Nissan paid extra for the coverage....because unless you were in a SpecZ...the coverage was almost non existant.

I did get a shot or two of the CMC cars though.

Each group is sponsored by someone for Speedcast to cover it. Nissan sponsored group C.

Likely. He is the Marketing Director for HQ. Figure anyone of us would do the same if we could for CMC.

No different than when we were at Miller and the whole broadcast was about FFRs. They paid for the coverage.

I just spotted a post where one of the SpecZ racers said that even with all the coverage focus they *still* missed the pass for the lead during that race. Buyer beware...

Thanks Ken for really trying to get things stirred up. Nobody in the Spec Z group asked for their class to be covered. Nissan most likely paid a sponsorship fee just like Ford could have. If Ford had paid for it do you think any GM car would have been seen for more than 60 seconds? Nope! Do you want your series on TV next year? You will need at least 10k. I was disappointed with the coverage too. As an official in the tower I wanted to see what was happening around the track.

NASA is trying to build a class. Considering that 7 out of 11 Spec Z cars in the whole country were at this event, we're doing pretty good for a class that's been around for only 8 months. Not even 1/10th of all CMC cars were at the Championships this year. If Spec Z continues to grow, as I suspect it will, they won't be in Group C next year. Y'all need to contact Ford, GM, Toyo, etc. if you want to have more video coverage.

Build a class, kill a class.
BS.

There were more than 100 cmc cars nationwide prior to the home office gutting the class in '06-'07.
Money is all that matters huh?

Just so you guys know, apparently sponsoring the main event for the purposes of coverage is in the $7,500 range. Apparently a couple of companies do this for their prefered class, enabling NASA to televise the whole show.
