Here's a bit of fun.
Does anyone know if anyone makes a scattershield for an LS1/T56 combo? Clutch broke the bell housing, but didn't come through the tranny tunnel. I'm not sure I'll get so lucky next time.

Wow. What make of clutch?

Best I can do is Sunday Qualifying. My phone didn't record R3, and for R4 my assistant put it facing backwards (great video of my wing and clouds).

You can hear my clutch parts spinning around when it blows during the downshift at the end of turn one on this vid:

Dunno. Remembered going cheap, thinking I was only making stock power levels.
I think it's my fault (beyond buying cheap crap). At Hallett, I wasn't getting enough stroke from my master cylinder so I took out the clutch pedal stop. A couple weeks ago, I replaced the master cylinder with a larger bore, and didn't replace the pedal stop. I think I over stressed the clutch. $600 lesson, plus whatever a bell housing will cost. Yes, Mike, I know I need a pedal stop on my throttle, too. It's on my to-do list. (Clutch pedal stop was on my to-do list too)

Wow!! So, if the bellhousing broke, how'd you get back on track?

I just convinced myself that they were cooling/lightening holes, and overlooked all the cracks. I'll fix it before I run it again.
When you drive 550 miles and bust it on the first day, you get abnormally brave/desperate.

Heh, I know what that's all about.

I was excited about NOLA, but not anymore. I don't need another clutch-killer track... yes I'm blaming the track now.

Really? No other videos?
I was hoping to see how close my spin on lap one of R3 was to you guys.

I have it... just no time to edit it down yet. Going to try tonight.

Nice! Somewhere in R3, I figured out we don't need to slow down as much thru the back esses. I started doing a light lift on entry, then back to heavy throttle pretty quick. It seemed faster, but somehow my laptimes were 3 seconds slower than qualifying.

Yeah I was giving up a lot of time in the first turn of the esses but when I did carry more speed, I would end up botching the 5-4 downshift and miss my turn in for the next one. I was really wanting my old 3.42's back for this track so I could carry 4th without blowing up (another) Optispark. 3.73's were a bit much IMO. I was also fighting a mid-corner loose condition all weekend that seemed to shrink my cajones in the esses. Not the worst place to go off but I really just didn't want to. I hear NOLA will send you a bill for messing up their grass....

5th? That's crazy. The only place I hit 5th was near the start/finish line. I could've done it on the back straight, but it seemed better to just hold 4th for a moment (especially given my timid use of the clutch after Saturday).
I noticed in your video that on the start, you went to 4th gear. I was still in 3rd in turn 1.
At speed, I'd shift to 4th for turn 1, and 3rd for turn 3.

You obviously don't have an Optispark to blow up every 3rd time the motor crosses 6100 rpm ;)

No, a weak radiator hose took care of my LT1. 5 spun rod bearings took care of my first LS1. Things have been good so far with motor #3.

It isn't Barber. The story I heard from the locals was the guy kept doing it, warned not to, did it worse, warned again, etc. Bill stopped him finally lol!

Huh? ya'll are doing it wrong. Motor #1 still running strong and about to continue life as a Nitrous motor in drag racing.

Mike...you are a sadist man. 14?! Yikes!

Nicely done - some clean passes, and a little bit of the "green line". :D

Watching these race videos is bad for my marriage... (I want to join in the fun!)

That is the hardest I have ever driven in my life then James passes me without breaking a sweat then Michael right after James. You three are not mortal.

That looked like year-end video racing all around.

Man the mid-pack is gonna be haulin' it next year.

Yeah, that was a good video. After seeing that and hearing reports from others I hate I missed the weekend. Nice wheeling by the 55-see what happens when you get all the seat time-you just needed more slackers there to run with.

Terry-that isn't bad for your marriage unless she is the one that wants to race CMC! Have you watched the year end videos?
