My trailer was stolen last night. They cut the fence, torch cut the lock. Fortunately the car and my tool box were not inside. They did get 2 sets of wheels, pit bike, honda generator, some spare parts and some hand tools. Cops said that I have 50% chance of recovery. Report to follow.

Dan,
Sorry to hear that... It's crazy what effort lazy people will go to as a thief, but won't put the effort forward to get a paying job... Just plain sucks.

That just sucks. Good thing you weren't on site with a ping pong paddle.. you might have stopped them before they shot you with an illegal firearm.

No more complaining that the dog chews all the wire off my trailer.

it wasn't me. I will be getting a new trailer with the Tri-Max locking for the hitch, and a Tri-Max wheel lock that fastens to the rear wheels. may even put on a lojack, or electrify it.
i can give you the name of my police officer, but your trailer will not be found either.
it truly sucks.

Randy;
Please contact Officer Allen at the Houston PD. He needs to know where you were between the hours of 1 and 3am on Sunday morning. No let that bother you, it is standard procedure.

Update:

We have a nice video of 2 crooks (appear to be Democrats) cutting the fence and the trailer lock.
Insurance doesnt cover it.
I also lost 8) 17x9.5 C5 Z06 wheels with RA1 tires (4 full tread "rains" and 4 toasted).
So keep an eye out for "wheel deals"

Good thing Costas posted his wheels for sale more than a day before the camera caught the theft or he would be looking pretty suspicious... :-)

Also gone: Log book. 'cause getting through tech isn't fun enough normally...

To weird. My officer from Harris county was officer Allen too. Another trailer was stolen the night before mine was from the same storage. This is getting crazy.
And it is getting more difficult to get ammo. What is the world coming to?

Sorry to hear it Dan. Why isn't it covered by insurance? Was it not on a separate policy? Sounds like I may just stick with my hail damaged trailer since nobody wants it.

Sorry to hear about the trailer Dan.

On a side note (Dan or Randy) - John George is selling his 28' Haulmark. Some photos here: http://www.facebook.com/chicane23?ref=ts&fref=ts

We replaced the trailer with a pimped out Haulmark from Country Side Trailer Sales. They are just north of Houston in Spring. Talk to Tommie 281 353 7858. Good people, good selection. They showed me 3 different 24' car haulers.

Below is a photo of Richards idea for trailer theft deterence (he doesnt get many opportunities to design stuff out of heavy steel plate for the space shuttle). Works great as long as you have a fork lift available to install and remove it. Nothing says "go find a easier trailer to steal" to a thief better than 1 1/2" steel plate.

Weld on some angle tabs on the botton w/ U bolts and locks. Doesn't need to be bolted to the concrete, just needs to look like it is.

Got a weight on that? I can buy a forklift cheaper than a trailer. ;)

I hope that works but you'd be surprised how hard they will work to steal stuff. You may have just increased their payout with all that free scrap steel. How much does that weigh anyhow? Whe have had 200-300 lb steel items stolen from our office. I've also talked to a machine shop that had heavy steel stolen from behind a 10' tall chainlink fence. They used a tow truck or a cherry picker to gain access and lift the steel over the fence.
