R3. I spun off track around 13:30. Drove off twice after that, then slowed down.

Jay should have time to post some of our vids from this weekend sometime this week. Jay and Al and I had some of the best close racing ever. Like when Al hit me coming out of the last turn and I had to save it to keep from hitting the concrete wall. Damn that was some fun racing. In one of my races with Al we had two cameras. Ours facing forward and Gary had one facing backwards.

I had to brake Dans hub and rotor and put rocks in James diff just to get second. I broke Michaels starter but it was not enough.

Haha, nice Jerry!!!
A new years resolution is for me to actually get off my ass and edit my videos this year. There were some pretty great video of the starts with highlights of Sean spinning in R1 T1 and the Casey stall for R3. There was also a convertible out there with that interesting bumper sticker.

Unfortunately, both of my videos from saturday were messed up. The focus was screwed for some reason. Too bad to, since there was really good action in both races....but especially R2.

If significant altitude is achieved, multiply the altimeter reading by 228.7, then add 4.0 and compare to horizontal distance from the racing surface. Larger number is the winner.

Wow, hard lick indeed from the WWR #34.
Dave's off looked just like the one Jerry had in qual with me directly following, and Todd directly following, haha.

I vote Liebbe's off as front runner for the golden helmet. It looked like you didn't brake until the 100 marker. Must have had rust in the eyes. ;^)

I haven't had a chance to tear the car down yet, but I will before MSRC. At a minimum, I have a bent axle. I will replace the front hub as a precaution. Hopefully that is the extent of the damage. Remarkably enough, there is almost no body damage, just a dent in my super fender flares on the front. I couldn't believe I was that close to Jerry at the end of the race, just missed my turn-in point while carrying way too much speed. Arg.

It took me a while to get through traffic. Guys were all running really hard. My car was real good......no, make that GREAT in Carousel. I think I had just passed you prior to you hitting he wall. On the lap prior someone checked up infront of you (we will see on the video) so when you checked up I had to. That is when Al punted me in the rear and I came out of that last turn sideways knowing I was going to back into the wall. I don't know why or how but the car hooked back up and off I went. Al did the right thing and did not pass me during my slide. He said it was because he had caused the slide with his bump and sportmanship and all that stuff but I think the real reason is because he had no idea where I was going to go. I know I didn't.

Very impressive how much ground you made up after that. You likely would've caught me, even if I didn't take my nap on the side of the track around 13:30.

I never get tired of watching our different shift points, due to rear gear. I never hit 5th all weekend. I tagged the rev limiter in 4th a few times, but there was no real need to shift. (Maybe this is partly why you were 2 seconds faster)
Through the carousel, it was a toss up as to whether 3rd or 4th was better.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing watching your video. I picked up some time by holding 4th going into the Launch but it was showing 6500 on the tach...I'm pretty surprised the Opti survived.

I was really wanting 3.42 or even 3.23 gears for this track. I gave up a ton of speed in the kink going into Diamond's Edge simply because I didn't trust myself to pull off a clean 5-3 downshift under heavy braking, every lap. I tried it in practice and screwed it up enough times to not want to risk it in a race. I was trying to get the 5-4 downshift out of the way early but it cost me a lot more speed than I realized. <sigh> There just isn't an ideal gear for all the tracks we run and I'm too lazy to do gear swaps on a regular basis.

Not exactly sure how I'm supposed to take that. We are starting our sixth year in CMC so 2.5 years worth of seat time each so far. WOW that sounds bad when I type it. I would say Jay needs to get a car but he will be missing races soon enough......right BL?

I think it's great you guys have been sharing the car but I think the limited track time per weekend is holding you both back a bit. Two half weekends a couple of months apart isn't equal to one full weekend of track time when you are trying to develop the very subtle differences between going fast and running at the front. You are spending a significant amount of your weekend track time just blowing off the cobwebs, getting your mind aclimated to the speed/forces, and calibrating your spacial awareness in a pack of cars. By the time you have everything dialed in and are ready to learn, your time is over...
