I have to pick up my daughter at DFW airport at 5:55 PM Friday. How would you go (from Georgetown) to keep out of traffic? Was thinking 35W instead of 35E but I have no idea how to go at this time of day.

Google Maps has traffic layers, you can toggle between live and traffic at day and time. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl Turn on the Traffic layer and then zoom to area of interest, look to lower left to change from Live Traffic

I-35W to I-20 Eastbound to 360 Northbound to 183 Westbound to DFW would be my guess.

The strech from 35W to the airport via 183/121 is under a major upgrade. Total cluster.

Take 35E up to I20. Take I-20 west to 161 (new tollway) From there take 183 west to the airport.
The tollroad (161) will take any Texas Toll Tag. The speed limit is also 70 on it. I've never seen heavy traffic anywhere on it.

I would get there early, park and wait. I hate rush hour.
The latest I would recommend trying to hit Dallas is 4:30PM - then you should be able to get to the airport before 6PM - if not a lot of traffic then just get a parking spot and take a short nap. You should be OK leaving since it will probably take a bit for her to get out of the terminal so 6:15 PM or so and then just deal with the backside of rush hour.
5-7PM on Friday is the busiest arrival time for DFW and business travellers on their last nerve (which is why I come back Thurs night or Fri AM for years) so expect a lot of double parking and crap outside both arrivals and departures if you are hoping for a curb side pick up. Depending on the terminal it might be best to just grap a spot in one of the garage's and walk in to meet her.

I second Glenn's suggestion.

Do you think a google map screen in the #77 would help you negotiate through traffic?
