I spun at 7:28. Fantastic heads-up driving by the two rookies (I'm terrible with names) for not hitting me.

Glad you posted this Jim. I was worried that I messed you up there. I remember pointing Smith/Lopilato by on my right coming out of big bend and saw you coming as well-headed up into rattlesnake looking to see where you were and didn't see you but saw some dust. Car looks great. My little girl asked me when I was going to make my car look like yours!

Paint wasn't terribly expensive, but took a lot of time. I put about $300-350 into the 4 colors of paint with hardener and reducers (from summitracing); $150 in quality masking tape, paper, plastic and mixing cups; $100 in vinyl mask material + $25 to have a sign shop cut it all.
The two of us did light body work for about a week's worth of evenings.
Justin got us into the Grapevine High School's paint booth. It was awesome. A little annoying that every hour a new class would come in, and we'd have to explain what we were doing, and all about our racing. I tried to recruit some of them.
One full day in painting white and blue, then 2 half days for red and black. Justin is a better painter than I, so I laid down the first coat or two, then he smoothed it out. Justin drives the flat black/green spec miata that I'm alway pitted by (he went to UTI for bodywork tech).

If any of you want your car painted, but don't have the skills, you might see if your local autotech class would have any interest in it. GHS' instructor told us that they don't get to do stuff like this, and was glad we came in and gave a demonstration. They normally just dent a hood, then repair it.
I'm also quite happy to give anybody a tutorial.

Edit: All videos are now uploaded.

It was great racing with everyone again, looks like I have a lot of rust to knock off if I'm going to be competitive. It was also great meeting some of the guys that came over since I've been away, I had a blast hanging out with you guys! Hopefully I'll have the new engine all ironed out before TWS.

After working on the car like i have been, i'm shocked I had any left. I never knew how you got thru at Rattlesnake. I'm still not sure. but thet really held me up.
I had fast lap that race and for race 2 (the one I broke on).

I had a 100% great time even w/ the car issues.

That's even scarier looking than from Eddie's view. How does Mike pack in those huge nuts into his race suit? I still can't believe he saw that as a passing opportunity! Kudos.

Funny, I was watching your video, and kept thinking, "stop now, or now. Ok, now". Strange that it died in almost the same spot on the previous lap. It's tough when you think it'll start up again just like it did before. I better understand your situation now.

I'm glad you kept the video running. It's interesting how much faster we passed you the first time, vs the second. I didn't see you until after I'd turned in.
Also interesting how spread out the field was after only 3 laps, which I think was a lap before the other meyhem.

The first thing I always admit is I too make mistakes. This was one of them. If anyone in the field has a problem w/ the "red mist", it is me. The first clue was when it died the first time and once it refired, I was driving mad. Being that it has been doing this since April 2012, and never left me stopped on track, I didn't think it would this time either.
Nothing you guys did made me feel unsafe. I was watching every car approach in the mirror though. I did learn the corner workers never called for a recovery truck for me. Not until very, very late in the race.

I gotta learn when to "give up".

Something I've done with Knocker is bypass the neutral safety switch on the clutch. Yes, this means it's possible I can (and almost have) accidentally start the car in gear. But it also means if the car dies and I still have electrical power, I can jamb it in first, clutch out, and crank over the starter (ignition is on a separate switch) to move out of a danger zone... in theory anyways.

Mine is too. Battery was weak from sitting since Oct 2012, and prior to that, April 2012. I also need to look into some larger batter cable from the master cut-off to the starter.
But thanks. I bypassed mine cause I was always having to climb in to start the car to warm it. I too tall and too old for that crap.

Race 4: Crappy video, but all I got. The camera had another focus issue. Not sure what is going on with it for the last two events.
