The wife keeps hearing something in the wall or ceiling in one corner of the house so I suspect theres a squirrel or something trying to make a home there. Anyone have any experience with pest control companies in the north houston area or other advice on this?

Go in your attic first and make sure they didn't make a nest out of your insulation. Usually they get in through an opening on the roof or chimney and sometimes fall in the wall. Last thing you want is for it to die in there. You'll have a stinky house for a while. Put traps in the attic first. That's what all the pest company's do anyway and it'll save you a $100 having to pay them when you can do it.

One man, and woman, shop out of Conroe. We've been using them for 10 years for bugs, very reasonable and not pushy, not sure if they do larger varmints.

Or...get a really hungry cat and turn it loose in the attic.

We had rats in our alley/backyard area so we got some of the big ass "snap traps" but on occasion they do not fully kill the rat. You "might" have to use a bb gun or baseball bat to finish them off. 8^0
