I have right at $6300 in my motor so I would hardly call that unlimited budget....you just have to be smart about how to spend it and getting an engine builder to help sponsor you REALLY doesn't hurt.

As for folks running away scared.....hardly...running to chase me maybe?! :wink:

While that is not an outrages amount.... I have just slightly more than that in my entire car....race ready.

Also in that figure is a complete spare engine, 4 wheels, and numerous body parts.

I built this car out of 2 wrecked ones, so I have a ton of parts.

I have approx $1950 in my longblock (including the aluminum heads)

$500 junk yard block
$250 machine work (vat, polish crank, freeze plugs, cam bearings)
$200 in bearings, piston rings and gaskets
$100 oil pump assy
$150 cam
$650 heads
$100 rocker arms

I believe Mr. Patterson's motor was stock with a set of headers. Not sure he had much more than that.

The Camaro's have a bit more power than an old junky Mustang. ;-)

$100 oil pump assy
$150 cam
$650 heads
$100 rocker arms

the new motor in the AI27 for 2007 season

$1100 used but freshly rebuilt 350 motor out of 'vete
$ 800 Alum heads
$ 100 Gaskets and misc.
$ 600 Carb (old 600 cfm not big enough)
$ 30 new starter on EBAY
$ 60 new 7 quart oil pan
cam, roller rockers, MSD ignition and intake from my trashed 305

OPPS forgot about new tranny and clutch add another $2,000

My original $7,500 AI car just cost another $4,500 but should be getting 375+hp to the flywheel (might need new one).

May just throw in another $600 for roller cam and lifters

In the mean time installing $300 305 out of an 'ol Blazer to finish the 2006 season.

Yes you would still be a rookie. The crying would be the give away.
"why is everyone so fast, and so close to me.!" says the AI driver moving to CMC.

If I was more computer savvy I would now post my video of Varner having car troubles after Turn 1a and parking on the straight where I nearly placed his taillights deep into his trunk. LOL It is kinda hard to see around that corner sometimes.

Yeah, sort of like Marshall coming up out of wagon wheel at Cresson...

www.aggie97.com/nearmiss.wmv

Always got to keep the eyes open....hell, I damn near punted one of the TSRS cars going into 3 because Donovan and I were going in two wide in R4....the guy was smart and got out of my way ( :wink: )but caused David to get into him when Lyons car hiccupped. In all, it's just racing because ANYTHING can happen. As I get more races under my belt I am learning to find better ways of dealing with the frustration and the fact there are things WELL beyond my control.....having been a control freak all my life....it's a difficult thing to deal with.... :?

Rub it in... I've learned a LOT from that experience and will not make the same mistakes the next time around. I just want to remind everyone how lucky I am to race with a bunch of guys with reflexes as quick as they proved to be. My wife also thanks you... :D
