in case anyone needs to update their safety gear:
so, I needed to update my harness due to expiring.
I had the Schroth Profi II (2" shoulder for hans, 2" lap), it was good. I liked the fia rating as it was valid for 5 years. they looked good too. made in Deutschland.
I looked at a handful of places on line for a new set and they were all backordered, the 2" Hans shoulder harness styles were not available.
I ended up talking to IOPORT Racing and ordering a Simpson FIA 6point camlock mid last week. 2" shoulder, 2" waist, 6point, camlock, lap pull up or down, and clip-in.
So, the point here, I guess is that it turnss out the tags are good through 2019. that is 6 years! I was fully expecting 2018, for 5 good years, which is why I like the FIA stuff. less fuss. I thought all FIA was 5 years if you got something that wasn't sitting on the shelf for too long.
Why Pay $200-$300 for SFI and only 2 years?
$390, IIRC, drop shipped from Simpson.
