What are those of you running the Ford SD getting for fuel mileage unloaded on the highway.

I'm entertaining a new rig since I have to sell the Acura to make way for the new baby in April.

Ford has 0% financing for 72 months which is tempting...

For reference, I am getting 17mpg on the highway in my dodge if kept under 2200 rpm. 14-16 in the city and I beat the shit out of it. you can get 2500 2wd for $26k any day of the week at Greenville Dodge or up in Bonham. you can get 4wd for $29999 plus extras....

I am sure given the state of the car sales business, there will be similar options coming up from dodge.

I totally side with corey except given fords history on the 6.0L, I still don't think I would buy the first year run of the new motor!! The cummins in the dodge is rock solid and if you can get past the smaller backseat which in your case is just kids....then I would say opt for the dodge. I love mine and to put 35's on it all I did was put a 2" leveling kit on the front. Truck as been totally trouble free to date approaching 40k miles.

Okay, time for a favorable Ford review.

Mine is a 2005 F250 SD, 6.0L diesel, Lariat, 2WD. I love it, though now that I'm in Colorado, I wish I had bought the 4WD. I got 17 mpg in Texas, and I'm getting 16 in Colorado, unloaded. With the car and trailer, it was 15.5 in Texas, and about the same here in Colorado.

No problems (knock on wood) and it's my daily driver.

I talked to guys who had the 7.3 gas engine in F250s, and they were getting something like 8 mpg in real driving.
