Looking to pick up a set of rain tires. Anyone have some RA1's with tread they want to get rid of?

What is the outlook on rain for race weekend?

Little early to determine if its going to rain. Even a week is too early to know.

Anything more than 36 hours is a total crapshoot. And they can't even get 36 hours correct a lot of the time.

My friend's dog sniffed its own butt and barked twice, so we will get heavy showers on Saturday afternoon for R1 and R2, light drizzle during R3 only for Sunday.

This is CMC, I thought ALL tires were rain tires, and clockwise tires, and counter clockwise tires, and concrete, ashphalt, and grass tires...

If you want to run RR's in pouring rain at TWS have fun haha. I expect a tow truck by the third corner.

Mmm, they didn't seem to hook in Hallett grass/dirt as well as CO grass/dirt. I actually spun my car (which I had previously believed to be impossible) off of the improved racing surface at Hallett.

You know if we studded these things they'd really dig in the unimproved racing surface.

I have some RR's with about 20HC's that you can have. I have no way to get them to TWS though. They are in Richardson (75081 zip) and are yours for free if you want to get them. Michael may have some as well.

Thanks Marshall. Mainly looking for something to practice on on Friday. I meant to buy another set but forgot. May try to call somewhere and see if I can get a set before Thursday next week.

Pffft, you don't need practice.

Tire rack has them in stock in Louisiana. Gets here in a day ground shipping.

If you ordered from Phils today you would get them in time as well. Do you only have 4 new tires for the weekend? Just practice on what you have. I think the RR's work just fine past 30 heat cycles.

I've got 52HC on mine, no issues here.

Ahh the pleasures of being lightweight. I'm sure mine will make it past 40 HC's but may need to flip them a second time if they don't cord somewhere first. They seem much better than the RA1's that required you to get some heat in the tire before it would start to grip.
Also, when I talked to Phil's they said the tire money was increased due to the complaints that the Spec Miata's get the same amount of prize money yet our tires are much more expensive so they upped the payout for our classes.

Marshall-next time I'm in the shop area I'll be glad to pick those up and take them off your hands.

It looks like rain tires might pay off.
Friday - 80% rain
Saturday - 50% rain with morning storms
Sunday - 30% rain with isolated storms

Remember your anti-fog. Apply liberally and often. If you can't see, it doesn't matter how good your tires are.
This goes for Rain-X as well.

And of course I ordered another set of RR's based on what the weather said on Monday. Doesn't matter. I won't race if its raining that bad anyways.

Don't worry. Michael can show you the way from T1 to T4 in a driving rain storm.

Do you think if I painted Marshalls rain wheels / tires black he would realize I was the one that stole them?

Good thing I took some spring rate out of the car.
