Anyone interested in getting in on a group purchase for having wheels fixed? I had two that were bent and Wheel Repair Solutions in Carrollton charged me $100.00 each to repair them and they look great. One had a crack that we stop-drilled and TIG welded a few years ago in my shop. They added a bunch more weld. When they called me to tell me they were ready they said for $30.00 more they would powder coat them. I went for it so I have $130.00 in each wheel that I paid $130.00 for. The deal is these wheels are no longer available so this is a good deal for me. I was thinking about sending the rest of my wheels (six more) and have them checked to see if they are true and get them coated. Marshall has four he wants done so I'm at ten wheels now. I was going to call them and see what kind of deal we could get is we sent a bunch in at the same time.

Wow. Not a single one. Looks like it's just us Marshall.

I'll be ready for four to go off after MSR-C. That will be the last event for those tires, so it works out well.

I thought powdercoating was bad for wheels?

I have never had a problem. Not enough heat to hurt anything.

Several places in Houston. Drop it by one of them and find out if it can be fixed.

Yeah, gotta buy said wheel first. I'll probably just skip past it and wait for more deals, just keeping an eye out for z06 wheels.

I think it can be fixed but not for cheaper than you can buy a non-damaged one...

We got in some Z06 wheels yesterday and the bell of one of them had been poked, probably by a forklift. You can have it if you want to try and get it fixed...

Thanks Richard, I'll just keep an eye out for straight wheels.

I'd be hesitant to repair cracks. I read a horror story a while ago where a tire tech was killed when a crack-repaired wheel failed, sending shrapnel through his throat when seating the bead on compression.
