Looking for a decent car for a friend's 16yr old son. Say up to 6k or so (less is always better).

Generally - sedan, automatic, 4 or 6 cylinder, less than 150,000 miles (closer to 100k the better), good maintenance history, clean title, no significant body damage, no shredded interior or dog-chewed steering wheels.

No jeeps, v8s, convertibles, 2-seaters, pick-up trucks or minivans. 4 door preferred, but 2 door would work. Someone out here has to know of a half way decent high school car for sale.

Targets such as:
2001-2006 BMW E46 325i or 330i
2004-2006 Acura TSX
2005-2009 Ford Mustang v6

May consider something like a 4Runner or Pathfinder.

Other ideas?

Lemme know!

Thanks

Chevy Cobalt. Plenty of those cars around 100k and under 6k. That was what I ended up buying Kenzie for her first car.

4runner or Camry is my vote.

Plenty of experience with both in our family. Pretty indestructible and safe.

My 2001 Crown Vic will be up for sale sometime this Summer. It's hot-lapped at TWS a few times.

And I taught my son how to do a burnout with it.

+2....was Kyri's first car (2006) and my daughter's (2008 ).
The 2006 was a heck of a little car...Kyri drove it at TWS and I drove it at Cresson.
Kyri sold that one a couple years ago when he moved.
My daughter bought a new car a year ago, and the 2008 has been my oldest son's daily driver and is now in the wilds of central Texas (he's doing some post-grad internship survey on bats I think).

+1 on the V6 Mustang. My youngest son is still driving his 2008.
