Pedal mods for heel-toe

Embarrassed to admit this, but due to never having owned a manual trans street car, I never learned how to heel toe.

Going to start learning, but was wondering if you guys have made pedal mods/extensions to make it easier. I know talking with Mitch back in the day one he used an extension made out of a cheap/thin plastic cutting board.

Was looking for pics from anyone that has added material to their gas pedal. I've got a gas pedal cover that looks like this, but I need just a little extension to make it easier to blip under braking:

I have covers on all 3 pedals. I have the brake pedal cover angled to be closer to the gas.
You also might need to check the pedal height so they are in good alignment when the brake is pressed.

Those covers will work. I just kept my brake pedal level with the accelerator when I'm on the brakes. That lets you roll your foot to blip the throttle.

Dan manages to do it with the factory pedals.

Richard put a half inch(maybe an inch) extension under the gas pedal cover on orange and it's perfect.

I used a cutting board from Walmart for the CMC car:

I also modded the pedal height on both cars which was a big help.....still not great at H&T though :oops:

One issue you may not run into on the Chevy is that the Ford has a curved gas pedal which required me to slowly heat up the plastic cutting board in the oven which got the wife pissed for stinking up the kitchen with the smell of hot plastic. I've since purchased a heat gun for stuff like this.

Easy way to learn.....
Practice in a parking lot @ low speed doing up shifts. Then work on the down shifts.

I bought those covers in the grid pattern for both my CMC Camaro and C5 Z06 street car and love them. When I had wet feet my foot would slip off the brake/clutch pedals in the Z06. I bought them for that first then acquired the CMC car and installed them there as well. I did shim the accelerator cover up with a chunk of OSB to get the height right. Now you get to learn to brake with the ball of your foot. Start doing it on your DD too so it's second nature in the race car. The blip is nothing more than locking your ankle and rocking your knee to keep the car from jerking when you start. After that it'll come more naturally.

2 layers of Walmart cutting board to extend gas pedal and get it roughly even with the depressed brake pedal. Works perfect. Full credit to Mitch Warren - I just took pictures of his car (and many others) before I built mine and followed his advice on this.

Didn't Jeff have the track record at MSRC for years even with at CMC1 power?
