So we know that we are going to have multiple classes in our group which means there will probably be multiple starts. So ask your self one question.... For us, is it really worth it to put our $1200 entry fee at risk by doing a standing start and potentially having a car break/wreck and cause us to lose valuable track time due to waiting on a tow truck and having a pace car slow everyone down and having to lose race laps?

Wouldn't rolling starts be less of a gamble?

I wouldn't mind skipping standing starts this weekend either.

I have no problem with the rolling start.

If I were there I would want to do standing starts for the Toyo races - it IS as much a part of the series as everything else.

You pay your money, you take your chances. Everybody is free to waive their qual position and start from the back.

I'm also good with rolling for this weekend.

I'm with Francis, standing starts is what AI/CMC is about!!
I would think doing a standing start on the front straight of COTA would get everyone excited..........maybe not.

I would love nothing more than a standing start at COTA, but with our mixed classes and such a huge number of cars in the race groups I'm fine not having one if it means an overall better session for mixed class racing.

I agree with Pranav, as much as I'd love to start from the grid spots on the front straight, I'm ok with rolling for the greater good.

I do hope tho that the pace car is faster than it looked like it was in the TWS video (I wasn't there). It looked painfully slow.

My primary reason for wanting a rolling is the fact that I'm going to be driving Sean's car. A standing sounds like way more fun though.

When you realize how LONG it takes to do a pace car lap you will understand why I brought this up. I personally just don't think it's worth the gamble considering how much money people including myslef have spent on this event.....entry, tires, fuel etc. Over $2k total

We can certainly discuss it during the driver's meeting Saturday morning. If our group decides on a standing start and the other groups want a rolling green, they just need to make that adjustment on the out lap...

When you realize how LONG it takes to do a pace car lap you will understand why I brought this up. THIS is one of the track issues for our class. And the multiple classes make it interesting unless CMC is the slowest and can grid last.

You guys be safe and have fun. Oh, take lots of pictures.

Cota is huge so multiple greens is easy including one or more rollig and one standing.

I'm glad we did standing starts, it's one of the things I love about this series.

The standing starts (and rolling for "wave 2") went extremely smooth from a spectator prospective as well as from race control.
Great job guys!!

So was it two flags, one for the GTS and Spec46s etc and after that the standing for AI CMC?

2 flags, first was AI/CMC/SI standing start, then rolling for the rest of the field. 2 pace cars
