There is a new 888, the 888R. The article talks about how much people love the old 888. WHAT? Who loves the 888?

We run 888's on the 911 because the sizes are available, they are sticky and they last a few weekends which works great on a factory stock vehicle. Price isn't terrible either for the rear tire on a 911 compared to some street tires.

When we tried to run them in CMC they were really bad. If they are so good why did every race group change from the 888 to the revised RA1 then the RR?

They are made for softly sprung cars that are mostly stock and don't overheat the tire in 30 seconds like a heavily sprung car or an AI car with aero can. AutoX'rs love them till about the end of the second run.

I can't find crap for mod-long term impressions on the 888R. Also haven't looked in a while. IIRC they come in sizes my Z06 wears which piqued my interest.
