SN95 Clutch Cable

Quick question for the SN95 guys - Are any of you guys having continual issues with your clutch cable? I've had two go out already in a relatively short time.

My set up is using the extended cable that goes from the firewall and makes a gradual bend near the oil filter and a straight shot to the clutch fork. I've attempted to use the stock length cable but it gets bound up (too tight of radius) as that's the only way for it to go through the BBK shorty headers (which would quickly get eaten up by the heat).

I don't recall the first one, but this second definitely looked like the heat from the headers could be a culprit as the black sheathing was deformed.

side note- I'm also running the Steeda quadrant and firewall adjuster

I had issues with the after market adjustable cables. I switched to the OEM ford cable with the maximum Motorsports quadrant for the factory cable and a steeda firewall adjuster. Agreed, I've had a factory cable on mine for 12 years.

What Daniel and Michael said. If you have a cable with the threaded adjustable end down by the clutch, figure two to four weekends depending on the routing and heat. Get a factory style cable from Maximum Motorsports, and whatever bits you need with it to make that fit. For some reason, they are much more durable, and better at withstanding the heat.

One thing I just did that drastically improved clutch performance in my car was replacing the clutch fork with a new repop from LMR. Made a big difference in pedal feel as well as the ease of getting into gear. From this I assume that I had something less than ideal with the old fork which is now on trans #3.

Yep Ford OE or Steeda clutch cable and heat wrap.
