So I was listening to NASCAR radio on XM the other day and I heard Chocolate Myers talking about how stupid some of the cost are in racing. Back in the day teams used lead for weight inside the frame rails. Someone figured out that tungsten weighs twice as much as lead per square feet. A piece of tungsten 3" x 4" x 6" weighs 35 lbs. 400 lbs. of tungsten cost over $20,000.00.

We also have to buy a $1000 set of tires for each race weekend to stay relevant.

That single handedly, in my opinion, is what is holding our class down. Fix that and I think we'd have better numbers. Bring back the original RA1s!

Racers are their very own worst enemy. Without strict rules and enforcement, money always wins out over talent.

True, but this class proves time and time again you don't have to have the latest and greatest hardware to win.

Just have big balls and fresh tires.

We can debate all day who's balls are bigger but it would be nice if we could not have a tire go to shit after 8-12 heat cycles.

Agreed. Im going to be buying a set of 200treadwear street tires for open lapping days to save the heat cycles on the RR's. The car feels so bad on the heat cycled out ones that it's not even useful practice...

The original RA1's were an awesome racing tire. As was said about them.. the sucked, but they sucked a really long time.
