Yeah it does. You guys do a good job scouting the property this weekend so we can have a huge AI/Spec/CMC corral this fall.

$179.00 just for bringing in an RV! I don't understand the difference (besides the obvious) in my RV and a 26-35 foot enclosed trailer with generator and A/C with guys staying in it for the weekend. I paid this fee last year while everyone around me did not. And you wonder why I have issues with COTA?

For those who have raced COTA......I have a couple questions about the paddock and where to stay/sleep? I'm planning a trip to Nationals from Virginia and usually camp in the paddock in a 28ft toyhauler/trailer. It appears you need to pay a $179 fee to do so but that option is "full" (how is that possible?). The other, more expensive, options are to stay in a campground like setting that includes power, etc. but how far away is that. The tracks I usually run that have "camping" means outside the paddock and you are really isolated from everything going on. I'm sure this group is like ours and you paddock together as well as welcome other CMC'ers to do so too......so fill me in, whats the scoop for someone that's never been there before?

Hi Russ,

Last year I paid some fee (like the $179.00) to bring my RV into the paddock I don't know of a single person in our group that paid to bring in a trailer but several stayed in them. This year I am paying for RV hook-ups. Yes it will be away from the CMC guys. I plan to pitting with the CMC guys with an EZ-up. Maybe they are going to make everyone drop their trailers in a different lot. That would be a good idea.

Russ,

We all paddocked in the upper support/trailer area away from the main paddock behind T12-14, and glad we did so.

The main paddock area is a complete mad house and honestly would not advise wasting $ parking there. We had a nice big area to ourselves and even with this record turn out, had more space than what we knew to do with up there. We will all paddock up there together again and have a good time, just bring a cart or bike to get up to the main area if needed.

The only sucky part was there were not restrooms or porta potties up there so I kept pissing behind Daniel's trailer all weekend.

Oh man, I slipped behind Daniel's trailer and fell in some mud at the last event. I thought it was the track sprinklers that made the ground wet........darn.

Sounds like what we do when possible (must be a CMC thing!). Are you guys using that paved section INSIDE the track where 2 dark round circles are on the asphalt (google images)? I've got a little Honda to power the trailer so I'm all good there. (also, Is there anywhere to fill the trailers water tank after I get there? I'd hate to haul 100 gallons of water 1,500 miles if I don't need to!)

.....and one of our tracks has blackberry bushes along the tree line. We always joke about making breakfast for the racers we don't like....using pee soaked blackberries for pancakes! LOL

That's some funny $hit right there...

You have no idea the crap we pull on each other......rainbow stickers or "I love penis" stickers on the racecars right before a race, a middle finger cutout on a popsicle stick could come out a window at you. Someone tied 75 ft of yellow caution tape to my back bumper the day I did Comp School....yes, I was flagged for that! Even had a car run 1/2 a race with a 12in dildo stuck to his truck lid. It came off mid race and was hit by another car throwing it into the windshield of the following car. The stuff in the paddock could be worse. Guy thought he pulled a good prank only to wake up the next morning to find a chain run through both back wheels.........and each end welded to his roll cage. (we have even gotten the officials in on some of our antics)

I stuffed the front end of my car in a tire wall in the rain last weekend.......I couldn't do a dam thing cause about 6 guys were all over that car all day getting it usable condition for me! Best group of guys you ever want to meet!

There was a prota potty on the other side of the fence.

Damn man sorry. If it makes you feel any better I was well hydrated all weekend so chances of you actually getting pee-mud on you were probably slim.

Guys:

Based on the number of entries for Nats, it has the potential to cap the race groups at max cars. If you are even remotely thinking of going, you should sign up now. Otherwise, you may not get in.

How can a National event results count for a Regional championship standing?

Josh, are you saying you wish you hadn't signed up for the Thursday practice?

I'm also concerned with only 1 Qualifying race. Haven't they always had 2 qualifying races at previous National events that average into the starting position for the Championship race? That makes qualifying and the 1 qual race way more important now.

marshall_mosty
07-06-2018, 02:21 PM
I talked to Will and here is what he said about it counting toward regional points:

"The hosting region for the National Championship race has been required by the national office to have it be part of their regional race structure for the past few years. The racers still have their opportunity for drops."

For our series we have 5 drops for the season.

michaelmosty
07-06-2018, 02:46 PM
So I'm guessing we will have 2 races that count towards points at the Championships. That gives a total of 21 races for the year (assuming we get 4 races at NOLA) and 20% being drops, would give us 4.2 races or rounded down to 4 drops for the year. Is this correct?

marshall_mosty
07-06-2018, 03:23 PM
Will wanted to give us 4 drops and I negotiated with him to give us 5... One weekend (4 races) for "life getting in the way" and one race extra for a mechanical, poor finish, etc.

I've tried for years to get RM region to count Nationals as a points race for regional championship in hoping it would get more cars to Nationals. It didnt work. I think many years ago when Nats were at Miller
we counted it as double points in hopes of attracting more cars. Since then Nationals have never counted for RM regional points.

Speednews picking some favorites from Texas for Nationals... but no picture of any CMC car?

Oh, and since it's in Austin, they call it "0 miles" for Texas racers; I might need to send them a Rand McNally.

They ask Kevin Jander for a pic since they picked him to win but he did not send them one.
