Condition: The Good: Exterior is in good condition with a few imperfections. Interior is in good condition as well. No tears in the leather seats but they do show a bit of fading/wear. Drivers seat appears to have been replaced as it is in very good condition. New battery. VANOS recently checked and passed ISTA+ test. This list does not include a lot of the cosmetic things we've replaced or fixed.

Condition: The Bad: A few rock chips on the hood, a couple door dings, small crease in lower rear of front passenger fender. Diffuser has some broken tabs. Side moldings had some cracks. Hood creaks when opening. Car fax shows minor accident early in life. Drivers side mirror power up/down inoperable. The passenger occupancy light gave an intermittent light. We put in a bypass so the light is off and the airbag will deploy in an accident whether the seat is occupied or not. By no means is this a bad car, just trying to be as transparent as possible.

Service Records: Unfortunately, we don't have any solid service records. We're the 6th owner, so we really only have what carfax and previous owners word.

The Service Log / Warranty book in the car has no entries, so can't comment on the Service 1 or 2 or valve adjustments, but it does seem the 1st owner took it to the dealer for maintenance. It has not had the subframe reinforcement upgrade done.

1st owner had it for ~50k miles and lots of records of "Vehicle Serviced" although it does not go into more detail.
Outside of Oil Changes & Maintenance Inspection...
8k engine/powertrain computer/module checked, evaporative emission vent purge valve replaced
22k ABS fluid changed, battery replaced, clutch replaced, drive belts replaced, seatbelt assembly replaced
25k door edge guard replaced
29k Rod bearings replace under Service Action SIB 110404
Owner 3 ~70k BMW recall - passenger front air bag
The ad that we bought it from (81k miles) stated "All service was done by previous owner less than 5,000 miles ago." "Water pump recently replaced. AC belt recently replaced. New valve cover gasket. New upper radiator hose." "DSC light is on. Exhaust hanger is missing"
The PPI we had done at Wagner BMW of Shrewsbury listed everything as "Checked and OK at this time with the following exceptions...
• DSC pressure sensor 1 - We had this fixed at Momentum BMW in Houston along with a brake flush
• Oil Leak (Visual) - We have not addressed this, but have not had to add oil, nor does it leave spots in the garage.
• Trailing Arm Bushings worn - I replaced these with Vorshlag units / limiters and had Momentum BMW do the alignment.
• Exhaust Hangers: missing 1 cross brace - This was replaced with a new one.
• Driveshaft Repair/Replacement: center support bearing poss worn, can feel play in shaft but can't see bearing with shields in the way - When we had the Momentum BMW check it (when they were doing the DCS and alignment, they stated "no found any damage in driveshaft, compare with other similar vehicle, play in shaft is normal, vehicle working by BMW spec."
• Tires - We replaced these after driving it back to Houston from Massachusetts.

We recently had a dealership pull codes and put it on the lift for evaluation (one of the guys working there wanted to buy it and asked if he could check it out).
• 000007 - GM:Signal STDWA (only relevant if an anti-theft alarm is fitted)
• 000021 - IHKA: Solar sensor
• S 0025 - No communication possible with Radio
• 00003D - GM: Truck-lid unlocking: mechanism
• 000050 - MRS: power supply
• 000069 - DME Signal, engine temperature implausible
• 000070 - MRS - Seat occupancy detector
• 000081 - GM: DWA alarm memory: door contact, drivers door
• 000085 - GM DWA alarm memory: tailgate.
Most of these are fairly obvious. No alarm, so that explains some of them. Aftermarket trunk still release with the key fob. Solar sensor we think was the rain sensing wipers, which have now have been fixed and are working. Radio was just replaced with aftermarket one with bluetooth, tho we do still have the stock one with all the bits. The Seat occupancy detector has been bypassed as stated so that explains 000050 and 000070. Don't know what the 69 is, tho I think it is for the battery temperature reading since we replaced the battery with a non-BMW battery (Autocraft Platinum AGM)

They noted the front bumper has been removed at some point (not really surprised since it's a 17 year old car) and also the oil seeping.

We just replaced the battery on May 13th. Oil change just completed at 85k using Castrol Edge API SN.

All manuals and keys included
Carfax available
Clear Blue Texas Title in hand
Located near Katy (West Houston) Texas

We bought it Dec 2016 with 81,100 miles after getting a PPI done at Wagner BMW of Shrewsbury. Drove it home from Massachusetts to Houston. Selling because it got kicked out of the garage for something better. No tire kickers or lowball offers or Nigerian princes.

Prefer not to, but am willing to ship, though will require yourself or a representative (shop or whatever) to look at the car before purchase. My 9 out of 10 may be your 7 out of 10.

Gary,

You drove around the world to purchase the car. Was it not what you thought you were getting? I know nothing about BMW's and have never even been in an M3.

Yup, it was Laura's high school/college dream car. True, we drove it back from Boston to Houston. It had a few issues that we've taken care of like correcting badges, trunk latch, DSC, new tires, some worn interior panels etc. We do drive it to work on Friday's as long as it's not raining with no worries about it leaving us stranded, as the Sky did to us a few times which prompted us selling that a few years ago. To quote Laura, "It does look pretty sitting there, but the Mini is more fun to drive".

Laura found my 'dream' car while bored checking autotrader just for fun. So to help fund that purchase and make room in the garage, the M3 has to go. If it wasn't for that, we'd hold onto the M3. She's glad to have had it (even if it was only for 18 months), but this 'new' car, well, it's just better in every way :)

Stay tuned.
