Ford vs. Chevy, who wins? The guy with the drag racing setup of course, but how about the burnout the Toyo RA-1s make?

What does Santa do when he's not delivering toys? He flags races.

I left my race car in the garage alone for too long and it just doesn't seem the same anymore....

1.9 60 ft.

I dont think the TA/PHB helps much on that.

1.9 on street radials is very good indeed. The best I ever was able to obtain on BFG's 275-50/15's is 1.89 and ran 7.98sec in the 1/8 mile. With M/T slicks it would trip the 60' lights with the rear tires and run mid 6's in the 1/8.

Sometimes I miss those days. lol

my 98Z pulled low 1.8's on Nitto DR's (315's) @ 3600-3700 lbs. that was also w/ a RR set-up on it. that was doing my best to not destroy the stock 7.5" 10 bolt. car ran low 7.90's @ 95'ish mph in the 1/8. never got traction till 3rd - just before the lights. 1/4 mile predictions were around high 11's @ 123-125 mph or so. never got to take it out to any 1/4 stuff once i got into RR.
factory stock w/ BFG DR's and a exhaust dump just before the stock muffer, car ran a 13.0 @ 105 or so. that was way back in 1999.

Back before my first AX, I was into the drag racing thing. With an o/r h pipe, 3.73's, u/d pulley and MT ET streets, I had my rustang running 8.20 -.22 consistantly in the 1/8th and 13.02 in the 1/4 destroying clutches and differentials. Averaged 1.65 60's though and won a few bracket events. All of this on 245 rwhp!!!

Car had a 12.99 in it but never got the chance before I decided drag racing was too expensive.....what the hell was I thinking?!!!

It would be interesting to see what I could get it to run now?! :?

I never spent a whole lotta time or money on drag racing.

I see at as a cheap way to spend the night. And a fun way to dyno the car. 111 mph@3500 lbs = about what the dynojet measured it at.

I was always more into dirt tracking, but needed a dedicated car for that. Never got to run my dirt car on the drag strip, but I swear, in the next few weeks, I'm gonna run the CMC 44 at the drag strip.

Too many cars break at the drag strip, too much shit gets talked, and if someone drives there car into mine, unlike the road course, I cannot expect shit outta them in return for their either carelessness or failure to properly prep their car.

Every time I go there I dread lining up against those poorly prepped, over powered accidents waiting to happen.

At least at the dirt track, I expect to get driven into lol.

Yup, my New Years Eve is at home with the kids and Barrett-Jackson.

Yeah, like the Camaro is a dog at the drag strip. Remember, I drive a supercharged LT1 C4 when the wife's not using it...

ford vs. chevy - been going on long before we got here and hopefully it'll keep going on for many years to come.

Besides, you picked up some new blood with the Al Fernandez trade, no?

Boudy

Cool Mike. I bet that C4 is really neat to drive. I had an LT4 C4 and really enjoyed the heck out of driving it.

...from the top again...

Very cool, Jerry!!!
I wish that Maroon Marauder had some AI decals on it though!!!
It would be great for a handful of us to meet up at the dragstrip in 2007 sometime for some heads-up AI or CMC racing in full road race trim...might get some converts!?!

Rob...don't fret about your car looking funny after sitting so long. Once you get in it and drive it again, it'll feel like the true sportscar that it is!!!

-=- Todd

PS- My best time was a low 1.7 and 7.70.....with the top down. 8)

I don't do much drag racing, but about once a year or so I go out and do a few passes in the street car that is setup for the road course and DE's.

I think the best 1/8 pass is only in the low to mid 8's.

I did make it to the final 4 out of a couple hundred f-bodies at the SLP day a few years ago and to the final 6 out of a 100+ f-bodies at the Hallsville f-body shootout about 6 years ago.

From the rear, they look like they are doing the macarena under heavy braking. Lots of powah, but handling on the edge seems suspect. lol
