Our Philosophy & 25 Secrets for a Successful Series
Reprinted from the most successful IKF (Karting) Region in the Country:
1) Families First.
2) Fully enforce safety & fairness. Never operate without ALS (Advanced Life Support), fire extinquishers in pits, etc. Remember most accidents happen in the pits, not the track!
3) Find the most suitable sponsors and offer advertising (banners, web page, logo on shirts, videos, etc.), They pay unselfishly good money to your series and deserve to be honored & recognized.
4) Make sure you have steady, fair and equal tech inspections that fully enforce sanctioning body rules.
5) Find the best volunteers. You will be surprised how many people will volunteer. Just ask!
6) Focus on the newbies. Parents, children & newbies may need help especially if racing is new to them. They will be the future of our sport.
7) Involve the whole family and make it fun for everyone!
8 ) Maintain an updated web page that includes all the info and help you can provide.
9) Have a dedicated photographer/volunteer/ videographer as these are the memories which will last a lifetime.
10) Avoid Negativity!!!
11) Run a tight, safe, fair and most of all FUN ship!
12) Use the black flag! Handle protests efficient, fair, fast and professional.
13) Zero tolerance for any verbal or physical abuse.
14) Have a safe, accurate and fair scoring system (no Bingo balls, or eye balling). Always have a back up plan.
15) Have the right officers in the right position. Allow them to focus on their position on and off the track.
16) Work with the tracks, make it worth their time to host your series. You want to come back.
17) Give the proceeds back to your members in trophies, gifts, prices, banquet, etc.
18 ) Use all free marketing tools available. Ther are plenty out there.
19) Maintain at all times, accurate and detailed books and files. Document everything!
20) Come prepared to the track. Have all administrative homework done prior to race day and arrive at least a day early.
21 Make sure everybody knows to approach the right officer in charge of the subject.
22) Involve local media.
23) Have a plan with goals on turnouts & finances.
24) Make sure your schedule does not conflict with a major series (SCCA, NASCAR, Driving Events, etc) Space them at least 2 weeks apart. It is not easy, but it is possible.
25) Last but not least : Promote your series with Family, Fun , Safety & Speed as your main objective!
Remember...we are all "AI/CMC" and should be able to assist with most of these to help our series! I think we're doing a great job thus far!
