Ugh! What do we do with the stuff we were putting together now? Still want the e-mail?Quote:

Waiting on data to come in from all sources and via e-mail, web-mail, forum posts, snail mail, carrier pigeon and pony express has some built in delays.
Also, I think most folks don't realize that in order for a RR to be thorough and factual, a lot of view points have to submitted. A single person can't be every where at all times.
So the fault actually lies with the contributors and not necessarily the editor.
JMHO
The directions asked for the submissions to be sent via e-mail and not posted here.
But there ARE NO LONGER ANY REPORTS BEING DONE. So, in my simplistic opinion, timeliness is no longer an issue to consider. They quit being done at all.
TC and AG somehow used their magic powers to take a race weekend and turn it into a report - when they did them. I'm not sure how many contributions they received or the accuracy of them.
I spent 3 hours last night just trying to get my mind around the order of events, much less sorting through fact/fiction/opinion. True, the Trick-or-Treaters kept interrupting my train of thought but hey, that's what "Door Duty" does to Dads lol. I was already having difficulty resolving a few events/reports/recollections.
Conclusion: My "Renegade Race Report" wasn't going to have much more than what was sent to me. Since some guys have posted their input here instead of emailing it to me, why not just let this be the vehicle. That way I don't get caught up in the fact/fiction/opinion debacle. Since whatever I produced wasn't going to GRM anyways, this is just as good of a way to handle it IMHO.
After each race weekend we can start a thread called "Renegade Race Report" and everyone who wants can post up their version of the weekend for the racers only to read.
Thanks Mike for taking this on.
I appreciate any volunteer efforts.
This is the spirit that must catch fire in order for us to continue to grow, IMO.
This web site, driver fund, banquet, race reports, year end vids and not to mention our directors benefit us all.
If you see something that needs help with pitch in.
On a negative note; we were asked for input on the Nats report but have never seen anything.
I hope there is something in GRM, but not expecting anything other than what Robert is doing.
Thank You All.

And I think you have captured the reasons why there are no longer any reports being done.Quote:

But if the submissions I receive have already been posted in here (Read: Matt and Rob, lol) then what's the real point/benefit to the group?? :?:
Proctor gets a free pass because a.) he's new and b.) he had not much to report but some bad radiator action and overheating and c.) I like him.
I have benefitted from NASA TX's efforts for 4 years now and given little back in return. Is it too selfish to ask that the help I give be of SOME VALUE???
Don't post your report in here, email it to me, mmkay Rob and Matt? TYVM.
edit: OK, someone hand me a feminine napkin, it's bleeding again. WAAAAAAHHHHH!
Folks have a rather short memory span, it seems.....
In 2006, Todd and I did all the writeups up to and including Hallett, and Skip deserves a great deal of credit for helping us out. Only one report ( MSR in March ) was later than the 2 week time frame we committed to at the 2005 banquet.
Mike - the 3 hours you spent working on the MSR-H writeup is less than 1/6th the time we regularly utilized to get one completed and published. 20-25 hours is the norm, when using our standard format ( and that's probably underestimated ).
This is going to sound a bit like sour grapes...but I'm going to say it anyway. There was little appreciation shown to the directors regarding many items, especially the writeups. Complaints about timeliness ( not an issue in '06 ), accuracy, sponsor information/spelling, pictures, etc, all negatively impacted our enthusiasm. However, they still were done.
Prior to the August TWS event, NASA Texas insisted on having responsibility for race writeups. TWS ( August ) and MSR-H ( October ) were/are supposed to be written and published by NASA Texas.
If any of you are dissatisfied with the timeliness and/or lack of race writeups, please contact Shannon and/or NASA Texas.
AG, thanks for the insight. I've got a short AND selective memory. Sorry if I wasn't enthusiastic enough for all of the effort you and TC put into them. I was remiss in not mentioning Skip - thanks again to all 3 of you for your efforts.Quote:

The 3 hours I quoted earlier in this thread was by no means an indication of total work effort to complete. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that point. I don't plan on spending 20-25 hours on it, I'll pass it along to another set of eyes for suggestions and proofing however.
BTW, one of your previous reports has been a great benefit to me in generating a "renegade" version for October's event.
