Hopefully, within a year or so, I'll have the AIX Camaro up and running. We'll have to do something about those records...

The comment has always been that with "100 more horsepower" and big brakes and tires and aero, we should be like 10 seconds a lap faster. Considering there are AI cars in the US that are basically CMC cars suspension wise with AI power, no aero and just AI tires that are winning national championships... All those modifications still only equal 2 to 4 seconds a lap. Hence my theory that CMC/2 is really only a different part number for a cam and some brakes away from AI performance. Maybe not to the full extent of AI rules, just current AI performance.Quote:

Dan Allford and Chris Marvel have decided to team up and share driving duties of the #82 CMC2 Camaro under Red Shift Racing for the NASA TX 2009 racing season.

Got it.
So Chris, Richard & Dan are All-Ford.
Why are you guys campaigning a Chevy again?
That is a running joke. Allford has never owned a single Ford in his life.
But he did decide to make the team happen about 30 seconds after he stepped out of Richard's Mustang at Cresson LOL!
It really sucks for you guys this weekend, but I will be curious to know what the final determination of the problem was.
We'll keep you posted. Really sorry I couldn't get in and mix it up this weekend. Based on our lap times (and what I observed in race 1) I think the engine really wasn't there anyway.
I enjoyed racing with you guys again, and with any luck we will be back soon.
If you guys end up needing another LT1 let me know as I have 2 I want to get rid of. Hope you don't need them.
I am almost certain that we will. Is your LT-1 stuff in the for sale section, or do you just want to PM me with info?
Thanks!
Get w/ Mitch, I hear his Shit might be for sale.
(Nothin but love) :P
nuttin' but net.... ROFLMFAO!!!!Quote:

ps Thanks fo the tool benches/box, Mitch... or is it "bitch", that Todd guy has me confused
And then there were three, uh, I mean two. Red Shift Racing is expanding to a two car team. As seen in the entry list for Cresson, Dan and I are both signed up for CMC. Joining the #82 Orange CMC Camaro will be the new #47 Silver CMC Camaro. Looking back at the pictures earlier in this thread really highlights the wear and tear the #82 car has seen in the last several years. For now, the #47 car is looking fresh and clean and ready to race. Dan will be driving the new car. I will be one of the drivers for the old car. I'm looking forward to getting back behind the wheel in a race. Not really looking forward to driving a Camaro prepared to the CMC level...
If things go well, we'll achieve our goal of being the highest finishing Camaros in CMC. See you out there.
Richard P.
Dan, your hood is hilarious.
The new car looks awesome... the old one.. not so much. ;)
Richard,
How close set-up wise do you guys like the car? I just wondered if you were going to go with different spring rates or if you like the car the way Dan likes it.
JJ
I don't think we have really settled on the setup yet. The new car is starting out softer than the old one and seemed to work well in testing. Still have different bars and springs to play with on the Friday test day.
The Orange car will be unchanged for Cresson but we have ordered parts to soften it up. The current setup is not what I want on there...
Richard P.
Sorry Dan, supercharged 6 cylinders are not CMC legal, I think you can run in AI though??
Awesome! Love the 2 car team with the top fuel LT1. We should definitely have an award for the top F-body of every weekend-ready to see how the new one compares.
And then there were three. Red Shift Racing is expanding to a three car team. Joining us for the first time at TWS in Proctor's old car will be Kent Wiseman. Kent used to race Formula V's in the SCCA with Dan. We let him drive the Orange car at a DE a while back and the pull was too strong when we showed him the deal James was offering for a formerly very competitive car.
Joining Dan and Kent at TWS will be a fresh driver in the #82 Orange Camaro. Josh Sooknanan will be driving in HPDE and getting his competition license soon.
See you at the track...
Richard P.
What exactly is Red Shift Racing? All cars owned by one person or something? What are the benefits? Just curious.
Cool.. Glad you see you guys are ready to get it on track.
Miss you James!
JJ
A few years back, I let Dan drive my AI car at a DE. He liked it so much he had me find him a CMC car. I found a car for him in California, had it painted it Orange, and put Dan's #82 on it. RedShift Racing is the name of the team that Dan had when he raced motorcycles in Baja. The name and logo carried over to the car. After a few years racing, Dan bought a new car and we built it into a fresh CMC car and put #47 on it. Dan's Orange car is still around and being driven by the people who helped out with racing and building the new car. Kent is the brother of one of the guys that's been helping out all along. Kent doesn't have a garage but Dan is lending him some space at his shop to store and work on the car that we found for him to buy. The people that have been helping get one car ready to race are now using the same space and tools to prepare three cars. We're still trying to figure that part out...
Richard P.
Excellent
Good to see Cameron's multiplying
That's awesome!!
Congrats! Good news for CMC.
Actually the system at Red Shift is a bit more complicated than Richard would lead you to believe.
We operate as an anarcho-syndicalist commune. We take it in turns to be a sort of executive officer for the week. But all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs or by a two thirds majority in the case of.......well you get the idea.
Dan #47
Bollocks. The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that Mosty, Michael, was to carry Excalibur. That is why he is your series director.
Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
Dan #47
If I was to wave around the series rules claiming I was a Director they would put me away.
The other neat aspect to Red Shift is they send employees who drive Mustangs on business trips during race weekends to trim the competition.
Craig, Dan's got a position he'd like to chat with you about by the way.
