All,
Something I just noticed in the welcome letter... Annuals are $10 this year, and $20 if you need a logbook and annual.

Got the motor built yesterday and it is in the car with transmissions. Tonight still need to connect exhaust, d-shaft, wiring, hoses, etc. I also need to find a timing cover bolt. I was wondering how I could have lost one but just realized it was probablly attached to the section of timing cover that blew out and is at the bottom of the bowl at ECR.
If by tonight it holds all fluids and runs, then I should be in good shape.
BTW, sorry about the flu Bryan. I was only sick for 1 day so I assume you are back to feeling good.
This has been this way for the last two years. CMC has been able to bypass this in the past because Glenn or others were doing tech inspections for everyone. They no longer give stickers to anyone but me. Matt - Tech inspections done at another shop will only be charged if they need and logbook. The charge is an effort to get people to get Tech inspections before getting to the track and to cover misc costs like Toyo stickers etc. If anyone saved welcome letters from the past it is in there as well.
Any indication if there will be an official available to perform annuals on CMC cars in our pit area? It has been REALLY nice to not have to sit in that line for hours. I know Glenn isn't coming, so who else might be able to do it? Might have to buy Matt lunch :-p
We will not be on site until 7pm ish. Boo. I might have to buy you some beers at 9:15 :-p
Happy to report noise from my garage tonight indicates Fred Flintstone power will not be required this weekend
Spent 2 hours on the dyno... New heads picked up quite a bit of power. Enough to not be able to restrict without drastic measures. The only change to the motor was changing from "small" GT-40X heads to AFR 165's... Went from 330/340 to 362/370 with just the head swap. Ended up putting in a throttle stop (3/4" spacer on the throttle cable attach point at the throttle body..). Who knows what it actually opens to now.
Ended up at 327/349...
Car is now under wrap and ready to load Friday morning.
Here was the "before" plot

Gavin and I need a place to crash at night. Does anyone have an enclosed trailer we can bunk down in?
Thanks Craig. It's a deal!
Just heard on the news that ALL inbound lanes of I-45 will be shut down at I-10 from 9 pm Friday night until 5 am Monday morning. This will affect those of you coming to the track from the north side. If you are not through downtown by 9 pm you will be caught in the mess.
Just wanted to give y'all a heads up!
How would you suggest northbound traffic leaves the track on Sunday?
confirmed here:

The way it reads is that I-45 southbound traffic and also any traffic headed east on I-10 near that intersection is going to really suck. I'd use 610 East to US59 South, which puts you into 288 South headed to the track.
I-45 northbound leaving should run smooth enough as it's not listed as being affected.
Great, right next to where I live.
Just a friendly reminder to all-
Driver's Meetings are NOT optional. There will be a meeting both days (Dave only listed Saturday in the Welcome letter)
Saturday- Qual at 10:50 am. Meeting at 11:20 am
Sunday- Qual at 10:35 am. Meeting at 11:05 am
Both meeting will be held at the AI/CMC Compound under the canopies.
Roll Call WILL be taken at both meetings. If you miss the meeting- you forfeit your qual time. I hate to be a bitch so don't make me bust you!
Looking forward to seeing y'all soon!
Love,
A
if any of y'all live near ECR Dave needs something picked up from there and brought to MSRH.
I finally got the motor running last night, nothing like putting things off until the last minute!!
Can't wait to see y'all this weekend, it looks like a great turnout all around!! I don't think we have ever had a 30+ car field except Hallett.
Wednesday before the event? Mr. Love is laughing at you. Last minute is gathering all (most) of the parts, heading to the track, getting there right before they close the gates, and then working through the night to get it running...
Glad you are going to make it!
Richard P.
run for your lives!!!
Somebody pick up my award for me please.... like Mosty or Bryan. :D
Have fun and no contact this week.
Jerry... you are a brave dude.
Ok, Jerry- you can bust my ass all you want but when you start bringing my kid and her band into it- yes- it is too much.....Mama Bear has claws you've never seen!
You're lucky I love you so much- those kids Saturday night will make you eat those words...bring a large fork, my friend!
Jerry will be beat so senseless, he won't remember his grid position... oh wait, that grid position "LAST"... :)
I just took a guess about who was in the band. Obviously I was Joking ( I don't want last grid position).
