I rosette welded the axles and got it down to ~.0115" on one side and ~.0135" on the other. I feel like the c clips got rid of more than just the 6 and 7 thou that I measured. We'll have to see how the car feels now at a cheatin' bastard practice session.

I installed one in my car back in the day. Didn't make any difference.

So for what it's worth, the tighter used stock hubs combined with new Dorman c clips and rosette welded axle shafts made a huge difference in braking performance. I still have knowingly spread C5 calipers and need a left foot poke after a sweeper, but braking is dramatically improved from last season and a great deal of confidence has been restored to the car. Got Pranav's axle clips today and can't wait to try them out! I measured them at .167" vs .159 on the Dormans.
