No. He's saying you're too short for your weight.
Seriously - if you can ever make it to the Nats as a competitor, IMO, it's worth the experience. Drama and all. ;)

My own drama and "roller coaster" ride at nationals aside, I enjoyed the Summer Shootout at Hallet more. From a party standpoint they're both great. From a competitive standpoint it would have been great to be able to call myself "Champ" but I value a good performance at Hallet even more. There is just so much talent that shows up at Hallet every year from the various regions it is truly amazing. If you can do well at the NASA Hallet event, you should really be proud of yourself.
OH - if you do go to nationals, don't bring an LT1.
no one writes about the non-drama events (which is 99.9% of what goes on) because it really isn't "news worthy". It'd be like writing about how the sky is blue, or driving race cars is fun, or...
Mid-O is worth driving. It's a track that separates the drivers from the hacks.
I've done well w/ zero infractions and DQ's 4 years straight w/ an LT1.
There have been HP DQ's every year. Last year was big cause it was a car owned by the Director DQ'ing it.
My money says folks are not following the dyno cert process to the letter and the result is pop'ing over. Combined w/ the wrong expectation of all dyno's should read the same as others (down to the last HP), and folks just cutting it too close, you get this result. My car made 218hp the last two years I attended Nat's. I just don't push the limits there as I know I'm in unfamiliar surrounding (dyno/scales). To me, the stakes are just too high.
Don't get me wrong, I've pop’ed over. But not since the post season DQ I got back in 2005.
Sorry to get off topic.
I look back at every National event I attended, and loved every minute of it. From learning Mid-O in a total downpour in 2006, to the cold in 2007, to the flood of 2008, to the why in the hell did I follow Al to Miller in 2009. 2006 was the best cause it was such an unknown. 23 drivers and almost none of us knew one another. It was funny to look over and say "That is Brad Simpson?" or whoever. Think of stuff like this like life experiences. Everyone should go at least once.
From KO on the national board...
First pull 256/306
Last pull 268/316
Average ended up 262/314
Makes the second pull about 262/319
Most air filter companies don't even claim a gain of 12hp/10ft*lbs... except the Tornado.
Looking at those numbers, tells me he could have cert'ed the card at too low of a temp. LT1's OEM operating temp is 210-220. Likely once it heated up (last pull) it was making peak power.
I had a big talk w/ Al yesterday about having some talks on the forums about being very deliberate and accurate w/ your dyno procedure. Adam was always very good about having group dyno days and surely this was one of the reasons - to point out where flaws were being made in the process. Water and oil temp, trans temp, diff temp, air pressure in the tires all play a big part in the number displayed. Using the same tire pressure gauge as well.
I likely have over 100 pull's on my CMC LT1 motor and it has never surprised me w/ odd numbers. I've dyno'ed in the winter cold, summer heat, at 200 ft, 1200 ft, and 6000 ft. I've always been with in about 1-2mm plate size of where I was the previous year or previous dyno.
I'm not saying Kent wasn't, but you have to wonder if it was a contributing factor.
That is what is troublesome... I have dynoed on multiple different dynos and different temps...etc and I have never been suprised with higher numbers..... only with lower numbers when the knock sensor failed and the fuel pressure regulator quit. Both times the lower numbers led me to find out why. My car has never dynoed above 264 even with three different engines.
I would be extremely pissed to fail on a dyno that I previously passed just a couple of days earlier. Something is wrong in this picture for sure.
Usually a LT1 gets slower the hotter it gets...not faster.
