You passed me because I feel asleep on the track. I was bored running between groups 8 and 5. I could have passed you in the final laps, but why ruin your race for points. I choose to hang back. :wink:
I started to slow down two laps before you passed me. Why run my car hard for no good reason? I am not racing anyone in AIX. If I had known you would brag about it, you would not have passed me and stayed ahead of me.

i was just reminded yesterday that NASA TX has agree'ed to write all race reports starting w/ TWS a couple months back. so they are, what, 2 events behind? i'm gonna take a deep breath now, and hold it till i see a report from them. if no one hears from me in the next 10 minutes, call 911! :oops: :roll:

This is rediculous - if we think that we are going to get quality race reports from NASA TX, written by some media dude who doesn't know us, or much about our racing, then we are all seriously deluded!
While I applaud NASA TX for stepping up their marketing and media efforts in our region several notches, any race reports are always going to be about the whole race weekend, and from a 30,000 ft view no doubt - not the in-depth class specific reports we are used to from TC and AG.
The fact is that AI/CMC Texas is an entity in our right. Yes we are part of the NASA Texas family, but we are also part of the national AI/CMC family - just like Busch is part of NASCAR, or Speed World Challenge is a part of SCCA Pro Racing - we are an entity in our own right! We have to understand this - and NASA TX needs to understand and respect this. We CAN and SHOULD be responsible for promoting ourselves and being masters of our own destiny - there is nothing wrong with this - it is how the racing world works!
So just like we have our own website, and dues, and our own banquet, etc., we need to have our own publicity - our own race writeups, etc. WE need to write them, WE need to publish them on our own website and other forums, and WE need to submit these to GRM (or the appropriate AI/CMC person over in CA if there is a chain of command here?). We should of course also make them available to NASA TX so that their media guy can pick the highlights out for NASA TX regional publicity.
The job of writing the race writeups should not automatically be tied to the regional class directors roles - they have enough to do, and someone who makes a good representive for the class may not necessarily be any good at writing race reports - but as a group, we need to find a couple people who are willing to take it on each year on a volunteer basis, just like Jeff and Chris stepped up to give us our own website.
The people who take this on don't necessarily have to be racers - there may be talented significant others who watches most of the races from the sidelines who can take notes and help put together something after each round?
If we as a group agree with what I have said above, then I am willing to work with Mike and whoever else can step up to help out with this stuff next year.
Anyone talk to NASA TX on the topic lately?? I ask because apparently NASA TX wants some say in the media stuff cranked out. Why else would they have taken over the responsibility?? If they do reports that aren't detailed enough for us, we can decide on what we want to add or do outside of that.
I'm about halfway through this report (thanks again to those who sent picture and their perpectives!) and it looks/smells/sounds a lot like previous race reports so it won't be too far off of what AG/TC and Skip did for us in the past. Once I get it done and proof-read by a few other eyeballs we can thrash over where it should go and who should see it.
I just want a race report. I've already had fun going back and looking at reports from 2004. That's the real value of these things IMHO.
The race reports were taken from our control for the same reason that tech and most other administrative duties were taken away. Someone didn't like how or who was doing it and they complained to mommy and daddy.
Tech is being done (or actually not done) by people who don't know or understand the details of our rules. The race reports are now being done (or again actually not being done) by someone who doesn't know anything about us.
