Jeff W,
We have plenty of bandwidth for hosting photos and videos.
Jeff Brooks is trying to set this up when he gets time.
We desperately need someone who can build out part of this website to enable video & photo hosting. I have posted several times regarding trying to find someone who can help us do this.
Apparently no one out there knows how the internet works.
I would love to have a video/photo section that is organized by event & everyone can load videos/photos of that that event on a specific place on the website.
ANYONE?
The issue as I see it is building a user interface that allows UL/DL of said media.
Creating the subdomain, granting FTP access and the control of users and passwords is a challenge but workable.
But not everyone knows how to use FTP. So, it needs to be language based. Maybe SQL?
Video hosting is one thing.
Hosting TRUE HD is an entirely different one.
If you're trying to get native files to the producer, snail mail dvd roms is the only avenue.
A 720P native file ranges from 8-25 meg per second.
A 20 min race is gi-friggin-normous.
1080 is even bigger.

We dont need true HD Hosting , do we?
Is there a way to get a section of vimeo or You tube where we can have our AICMC section & then have different folders for different races?
I've posted in the past, at least twice, that I'd be willing to help.Quote:

Is this strictly a LAMP site or can we run other frameworks on here (Java, .NET?)
A paid Vimeo site might be an option. I'm just using the freebie account, and am limited to 1 HD upload per week.
For the year end video, I was uploading 720p 30 FPS to Erics FTP. As JB sez, big files, workable, but I left it running overnight typically. Part of it is most ISPs choke upload speeds, so the majority of the issue was on my end.
Call AL Gore... He invented it...Quote:

Still want/need folks to take stills and video of the goings-on at MSRC. I think several folks picked up some Go Pro HD hardware at the first of the year and I'm sure David D. would be glad to sell some more.
I've looked into some hosting sites (godaddy, host gator, etc.) briefly to get a common repository for stuff but don't know enough yet. Anybody got any thoughts, share them here or PM me - I certainly don't mind chipping in a couple bucks for the cause.
I'm also still in for helping with year end video stuff - idea(s), content, partial project, whatever - but it all starts with content. And gives me a good excuse to build a new PC since I'm saving all that money by not going to Cresson and having to fix the rear of the car (3... 2... 1...)
Again.
