Not to bring the group down ...

    ... but I thought I would share.

I lost an uncle yesterday. He was 87 and had lived a grand life.

We were seperated by distance for many years and consequently, we grew apart. We didn't see much of each other over the last 20 years.

He always had a great smile, personality and was a great spiritual man. I don't think I ever told him that.

His health had declined over the last couple years and I should have made more of an effort.

While I'm saddened to see this great person pass, the reality of my being all alone, family-wise, is really hitting hard.

We go through life with very few constants ... parents or extended family is one of them. When they are taken home, being left behind is sobering and scarey.

Most of you have heard me say this before ...

Don't take family for granted. Say what you need to say today. It might be all you have.

Thanks for the place to vent.

I appreciate it guys and I get a little somber and dark when these kinds of things happen. It will pass. He was placed in hospice this weekend, but crashed Monday. I actually got official word late last night.

The main thing is that at some point in one's life they are faced with being the "family elder". I was the baby of the tribe and now find myself as "da man".

Sorry to hear about your loss and feel your pain. I appreciate the reminder of the importance of family.
Though your tribe is in good hands with you as a leader.
    Take care.
