Where am I going with this...? Well, Toyo hasn't released specs/weights on the 275/40/17 R888 yet, but what I find interesting is that the 275/35/18 R888 weighs a full pound less than the 275/40/17 RA1....and the 275/35/18 RA1 weighs 1 full pound more than the 275/17...

    I think the R58 cobra R's weigh 25# each and the 18" ASA's above weigh 25# too...don't know how strong they are...but are for a 2000 Cobra R.

Anyone want to buy a bunch of R58's and good Toyo's....? I have 14 of them and a couple of unmounted 275/40's....

As much as I hated the 18" wheel rule in AI...I am on the fence for pulling the trigger. I am calling vilven for prices on the tires so I can burn up my toyo bucks from 07....but...there may be a fire sale shortly! Stay tuned.
    Ah, fugg it.

I think the ford racing site has shipping weight listed (boxed with lug nuts).

    FYI

    RA1 275/40/17's....$190 shaved
    RA1 275/35/18's....$287 shaved
    R888 275/35/18 $307 shaved

So a set of tires would go from $760, to $1150...

    Hmm.....

Why fix what isn't broke??? Unless you are changing/upgrading your brakes to take full advantage of 14" brakes, why replace all your rims and tires??

I understand you need to spend your Toyo bucks from this year, but still.....

Looking to the future...R888's are going to be the new tire in 09 and they appear to be lighter...I have found some 18x9.5 rims that are 19.5# each, and are only 199 bucks ea. I am getting some money from the theft and if I can sell the tires/wheels I have, I can have two full sets of 18's read to rock and roll. Brakes would be a later addition down the road, but could be done in a weekend cause the wheels/tires are already taken care of.

I am basically at a "Y" in the road....sell everything or go 100% toward putting this car at the top of the podium at Nationals in 08'.... who needs a retirement anyway right?!
