I sure wonder what our plan is for next year.

Even tho I'm stuck with a hellava lot of the 8's  , my pain would subside if we went back to the 1's.
Permanently.
Then we agree to never mention them again

Who do we lobby to change this for us? A serious push should be started right now.

Camaro, Mustang, doesn't matter to me, I'll race it.
Maybe we could all try and help the owners of 888's to sell them to track day guys. Even if they suck they would be way better than going through your street tires in one weekend.Originally Posted by jeffburch

Anyone know a SCCA Spec Miata driver that we could talk to and find out what it took to get to go back to the RA1? I know I read that they were going through a set of 888's in less than a weekend!Originally Posted by Rob Liebbe

I just talked to one of the Spec Miata builders/racers. They started a letter writing campaign to SCCA complaining about the tires. Same general complaints we have with the 888's - poor performance over time, very poor durability, high cost due to low durability, etc. The estimate was that Spec Miata participation was down 25% due to tire issues specifically.
So, Al, where do we send our letters. I know that NASA has access to these forums, but a more direct approach seems in order.

Toyo should buy back any un-used R888's or trade straight up for RA1's. i have a stack of Toyo bucks i need to send in. i guess i'll get more R888's, but i would rather have RA1's.
You guys should have talked to JWL while he was at Hallett...
Daron spoke with him about it and I believe the push is " no R888's in 2010". The story was NASA has requested Toyo to build RA1's in our spec sizes only....or else. This confirms a rumor I heard from Appalacian tire a few weeks ago....I would feel VERY comfortable buying RA1's right now!
Call Tommy for your RA1 needs!
Ah, fugg it.
I don't mind if they go back to RA1's, just allow me to run my 888's as rain tires next year.
