SOme food for thought for 2011.

Looking at the points sheet I can say that we have honestly seen the tide change from CMC to CMC two.
    2005 CMC1=15 CMC2=N/A
    2006 CMC1=23 CMC2=N/A
    2007 CMC1=18 CMC2=2
    2008 CMC1=20 CMC2=5
    2009 CMC1=22 CMC2=11
    2010 CMC1=14 CMC2=20

We seem to always stay at about 20-25 total cars for CMCw/ 2009 and 2010 seeing a nice jump in overall car count. CMC could easily hit 40 cars if we all could hit the same event at the same time.
This brings me to the point of this post.
How long do some of you plan to stay in CMC? I know I wanted to move up this year. A couple reasons I stayed. 1st - I wanted to ensure the 3rd gen guys had cars other 3rd gens to race. They need some more time to figure out a viable package to get to CMC-2 numbers. That should not be an issue. 2nd - I wanted to defend my CMC title for as long as it was mine. If I win it again in 2010, I'll race CMC-1 again in 2011.
I want to urge everyone to move up as soon as they can. Not because I think CMC-2 is just so awesome, but rather having all of us in 1 class is gonna be awesome. I'm just going nuts waiting for a 40 car CMC field w/ inverts!

Anyways, I was just wondering. I heard alot of talk this weekend about how nice it would be if we were all in the same class. I agree.

On a side note. I'll likely take that season off I've been talking about since 2006 finally in 2011. I need to build a new car (bent frame). I need to focus on school (more) and work. Kids are getting older and require my time more for sports and such.

    edited after points review..

I agree, it would be SWEET to see a 30-40 car CMC2 field! Of course that's easy for me to say, I'm already in duece trim...

For the first time since my first year in 2005, I'm likely not going to end up in the Top 5 in season points. I've missed 2 weekends in CMC and only made one in CMC2. I'm also not likely to have my car at TWS in Aug. I'm putting new hubs, rotors, pads on the front as well as a visit to a real allignment shop. Possibly new head gaskets before Nats also.
Add to that I have 1 CMC legal cage to build for an AI car. And a 2nd CMC car to help Mike and Mitch build.
I have a summer class that starts July 8th - Aug 12th that is 5 days a week.
Time is short. I've got a shit load to do.

I hope to have the LT1 in during the off season to move to -2 in '11.

Another side dish to consider, could we lobby to have Toyo pay out more than just the top 5 for larger fields? I don't think they envisioned 25+ cars when they created the payout structure for 5+ cars.

    Maybe something like this...
    Top 3 for 3-4
    Top 5 for 5-12
    Top 7 for 12-23
    Top 10 for 24+

Heck, F1 only has 24 cars per race (points to the top 10)

As long as there are enough cars for Toyo bucks, I'll probably stay in 1.

Frankly, I don't know yet if there's much additional cost to run up front in The Duece.

Might have to find a faster color.

The 3 car will remain a CMC 1 car till the day they eliminate the class... prolly move it to TT at that time... The car is a "perfect" CMC 1 car and I'm not spending any more money on it... If we decide to move to CMC 2, then we will consult Michael and use the fox as a CMC 2 build or find a 4th gen or SN95

I talked with Bob Denton while at Hallett and he sounds like a good source for information if the 3rd gen guys want to stay with a 305. He is running a carbed 305 and is making awesome power!!
I know it isn't fuel injection but would think it is definitely something to look into.

My original 305 in the 27 car was putting out 292 to the RW... very low budget holley 700 and cheapo alum intake...

I have heard the TPI motor is another story...

Good analysis of the CMC/CMC2 tide turning, Glenn.
Every region is different and it will be interesting to see.
I think Chris mentioned RM is staying all CMC...while Mid-Atlantic has all gone CMC2.

    Big fields will be awesome!
