    Ram air will allow the fan to move more air.

    Tapping into the factory air feed in the high pressure zone at the base of the windshield will provide more airflow than a vent in the side window.

    Because a quarter vent is cheap and easy to install.

    hanging it in the existing window opening seems even cheaper and easier to me
