    T5 rebuild

Does anyone have a recommended rebuilder for a T5? My donor has over 200K miles. Preference would be in the Austin area if possible.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

If you decide to drive a few hours up 35, my gear guy has rebuilt 3 T56s and 1/2 dozen rear ends in the donor cars Glenn and I have been running over the rears and in cutomer's cars.

Jason is top notch and builds a dead nuts reliable trans.

    Jeff,
If you have access to a press, I would definately recommend doing it yourself. I have a VHS tape from Hanlon that I used to sucessfully rebuild mine. My tranny has lasted 2 years and I just now had to put a fresh set of syncros in it. Otherwise it was just fine.

You can get a syncro kit plus bearings and seals for about $200.

I second the recommendation regarding Tony at AstroPerformance. He was a very good person to work with and he really knows his stuff.

If you want to borrow the video, let me know and I can bring it to MSR-H or mail it to you.

    Jeff,

There is a guy in Austin/RR that does T-5s. I just emailed him last week.

I might have mentioned this to you before, but I had a guy I knew in Waco do mine. I highly suggest going there. Even open Saturdays so easy pickup & drop off. They do tons of dirt track engines, from claimers to all out sprint car engines. 305 CMC mill should be easy (and cheap).
