    CCR Rule 15.6.12 Discussion

Section 15.6.12 discusses what must be done to permit the driver’s door to be “gutted”. However, the rules don’t clearly discuss what is allowed for the passenger door. If a single diagonal or “X” door bar is utilized, how much of the OEM passenger side door structure must remain to fufill the rule?

    1. No structure, door skin only
    2. OEM side impact beam only and door skin
    3. OEM side impact beam, inner sheet metal, and door skin

    Matt,
    Weight is my ENEMY!!!

I'm trying to lose as much as I can so I can strategically place the ballast… under the car, immediately forward of the rear axle… I can use it as a skid plate!

I’d love to be 27XX with a stock K-member! That is the goal my friend.

I still need to take a cutoff wheel to the interior sheet metal. I figure there’s 5-10 lbs there for sure. Apparently the door beams are worth 5-10 apiece.

I just don’t want to remove the beam to them find out I need a new door.

That stock K-member is your bigger enemy! I look at it this way with my car....it's 130lbs over weight, has had zero shock adjustments on it since I built it in Nov 05, Weighs 3102 post race and the driver could stand to lose about 40lbs. I installed the wing which fixed the loose condition and played with tire pressures a little fix some new push.....and I keep getting faster. I think the biggest key is to get the seat time and build a reliable car that I can just drive....to heck with absolute minimum weight or most power.....I think the driver can make up for 90% of all that.

    Just my $0.02....

ahhh yes . Driver swapping is the ultimate test. Only the most secure drivers are capable.

Only issue I have is that for another driver to get the times in my car I have gotten or vice versa, you really have to push the car and I would hate to be responsible for blowing up THEIR car and wouldn't want them blowing up mine. Otherwise, put us BOTH in someone else's car then sure....I am game!!!!

Maybe Matt and Marshall should go heads up in Corey's car during HPDE in October? Nothing like pushing an unfaimliar car without good suspension or ABS!!!!! I'll shoot the video.

During December, let's rent '06 mustangs for a day and go out to MSR-C and run the 3.1 or 1.7 CW since we are unfamiliar with those configurations.

    Total cost:

    $60 for three sessions
    $40 rental car
    $50 gas

$150 to find out what you are made of... priceless! 8)
