FB is the devil. That said, we have an RM CMC page. It doesn't get much traffic though, seems most knuckle draggers don't have that much interest in it. I myself am a FB conscientious objector. It's good for what's happening now, but worthless for documenting anything you want to come back to later.

I'm in a private FB group for a bunch of folks that ride bikes together.
It works - most of the time. Someone has to moderate who can be
a member (I think one version is that any member can invite and
approve a new member). But then no one outside of members can
see the dialog. If it's an open page, people will miss posts because
the FB algorithm is stupid. And most of the interested people need
to be on FB for it to be useful. The CMC forum is better from the
standpoint that you can get a daily digest of conversations that
happened so you can check on ones that are of interest.

Private page wouldn't really help with getting outsiders in. Both mechanisms have their pros and cons.

I'm part of a SpecE46 Facebook group that seems to work well. The posts are all public but to join you have to give some info which keeps the real turds out. Let's people see the discussions but seems to really keep dumb stuff out ...
