    old RA1's?

I just noticed I have two tires that have almost 4/32nd tread. They are on wheels Eric gave me with the car purchase. The wheels are very heavy so I never used them. What are the odds these tires are still any good? I know JB uses tires that slick and I think I have heard him talk about using two year old tires with success. Any ideas on these tires?

I have 10-12 old ones in the back of my truck at this exact moment... I will bring 6 or so to MSRHouston for those of you on a tire budget or unable to get your R888s in time... They will be free based on need and first come first served basis....

I have two events at TWS in the next two weeks and I can mount a full set or two on 3rd gen GTAs or foxbody rims and heat cycle and scrub them for a very small fee...

disclaimer: these tires came from many different sources and I will only guarantee that they will hold air... I do not have a customer service deoartment so there is no one to take complaints

The point being don't save them and mix them in with new R888s. Use them up while the oppotunity is upon us.

How old are the tires? If they are 2 or 3 years old I would guess they are perfectly fine. Anything 4 years or older are most likely getting a little hard.
Most new tires are already close to 1 year old by the time they ever hit the track.

Check the date code on the sidewall for an exact date.

I have noticed that these tires are fine after a couple of laps. I bet they are okay.

I completely agree. The first set of tires I ran were 4 year old Kumho's and they took 1 1/2 - 2 laps to come in instead of 1/2 - 1 lap.
