Sometimes you can get a big effin fire with no impact - have you seen the Tage Evanson video?:

I started putting mine down when I saw this pic in a Grassroots Motorsports article.

    Okay... Call me converted...

So, do you guys just put anti-fog on the inside of the visor?

I havn't used or really needed any anti-fog stuff with my old helmet, but went ahead and got some with the new helmet (debuted at Hallett). I always left it just barely cracked open at the bottom before on muggy days. My new helmets visor came with an anti-fog insert to put on it. I'm not sure if I just don't have it on 100% where it needs to be, but now the helmet won't latch closed.

(Sorry to start this hijack, wasn't the intent, but maybe a mod can be split off onto it's own thread?)

Hey, it's more than what's been published over the past few years.

Nice video. Mitch is right - you need some spacers to move the wheel closer to you.

Something else I noticed - nearly all of the drivers perform 2 downshifts going into Bus Stop - 4th to 3rd, then 3rd to 2nd. Have any of you tried downshifting from 4th directly to 2nd? FWIW, I did the same thing at Mid-Ohio - downshifting from 5th to 3rd heading towards China Beach.

Once I learned to do that several years ago, it made a distinct difference.

I wanted to get something out and the immediate vacation I took after the race didn't help my promptness...

Once I figured out that I need 2nd for the bus stop, I started going straight to 2nd from 4th. Never bothered with 3rd. The net might be in the way but I think you can see it in my videos.

What's interesting about that video is how the fire moved from outside the car to inside the car throught the non-existent rear window and how he jumps out of the still moving car which almost pins him against the track wall.

Oh. and that's one hell of a fast Honda.

My new helmet will have a visor.

I'm no expert and I'm not disputing the fact that a visor will protect you from 1400* flames and replace it with 600* molten plastic nor am I advocating a rear window of some sort ... I am suggesting that everyone purchase a $69 set of basic hand tools and tighten your freaking bell housing bolts.
