Went out to the garage and measured my CB front track width (Glenn got 75" at ECR on Sunday).

I had two pieces of a 2" tall by 1/8" thick piece of aluminum and got 74 3/8" in front and in back of the wheel. Now subtracting the 1/4" total thickness of the aluminum gets me reasonably below 74 1/2".

What am I doing wrong? Should I be measuring closer to the ground? But that can't be a > 3/4" difference can it?

    6.3 Track Width
Cars are allowed a maximum track width as noted in the table below. Track width is measured “as raced” with driver and is measured at the outside edge of the tires. The track width measurement will be taken at a point three inches from the ground using two metal plates similar to the Longacre #7950 toe plates. The measurement used for compliance will be the average of the front of the tire and rear of the tire width measurements at the three inch height after accounting for the thickness of the plates. The plates will be placed flush against the tire and not perpendicular to the ground for the measurements.

My logged number was including the toe plates thickness. Later I was planning to remove 3/16" from the data. I also need to verify that the plates I used were slotted 3" up from the ground.
It is very likely you are legal. Check using the info above and adjust as needed.

Potential new daily driver service shop... check!

Finished off the short trip to redneck racing... took a floor jack and jackstands to get the car off the trailer. Next year has GOT to be better for the Orange.

Apparently one of the new keys in the 3/4 slider assembly sheared one end on a 2/3 shift and then became lodged on a 3/4 shift; good think I didn't let Gunter use the "Gunter Boot Shifter Release" technique at the track.

New 3/4 steel fork and billet keys this time around.

    Orange is down for winter...

I just bought 3 sets of billet keys from Astro yesterday... My goal is 2 spare transmissions for next season. One at the shop as a rotable spare so there is always a good tranny in the car and one on the trailer...
