So I pulled my car off the trailer and onto a lift today... The transmission is fine, but it turns out that I disentegrated the Griggs Torque Arm bushing. That led to the torque arm hammering up/down and breaking the driver's side crossmember bracket which is welded to the subframe connector. That "slop" allowed the front bushing bolt of the T/A to rotate into the driveshaft, causing the horrible noises. So, it appears that it can be fixed with about $100 worth of Griggs parts and a bit of TLC with the welder...
On the up side, I'm glad the bolt hit the D/S, otherwise if the whole crossmember dropped out of the car and under braking became a catapault... that would have been BAD...
Guess I had someone looking after me...
