Anna delivered all four of our kids w/o epidural...tough girl my Anna. I myself was doped up for weeks before and after...never felt a thing.

My academic focus was bio-electronics so I dug through any research I could find when Anna was carrying Chris (25 years ago) and most concluded a) longer labor and b) more chance of surgical intervention - by quite large margins IIRC. As an engineer I was keen to avoid too much human intervention over too long a period of time (MTBF).
Anna just didn't trust anesthesiologists (personal experiences). So we agreed no epidural.
Pretty sure if we had a kid today it would be a no-brainer...go epidural!

Interestingly many of those early studies were poo poo'd in later years but studies in the last 10 years seem to support both conclusions afterall (I looked into it again when my sister was pregnant).
Anna delivered Chelsea and Cameron so fast I almost missed both while I was changing into scrubs.

I assume you all know Darcie had the little curtain climber yesterday. Audrey Elise Crumpacker was born just afternoon. 7lbs. 9oz of a beautiful little girl.

    Great job Darcie!

Pretty Sure I'm Paying My Fair Share

Reviewed the Federal Income Tax filing yesterday...How much of my F*'n money does the government need? I get the pleasure of writing an additional check that smells a lot like a couple seasons of a two car CMC team.To pretend I feel better, I dropped the White House a note asking when Mr. President, "who has been blessed, and has the ability to pay more taxes," is actually going to pony up and write the check.Let me know if you're going to vote for his second term... should be a lively converstion.

    Congrats to Sam & Darcie.

My condolences to Dave and his wallet. I get really p!$$ed every year when Kendra and I pay our taxes... Especially because we see the dirtbags milking welfare on a daily basis.
