Went mountain bike riding. Had a great time until 20 minutes in when I flew over the handlebars and ate shit.
I have a banged up right shoulder and possible torn rotator cuff. Going in on Thursday to see the extent of damage. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it isn't anything major. It hurt pretty bad but nothing excruciating.
Taking a shower was interesting. It is amazing how many things you use your right arm for.

Ouch... Hope everything is okay and just strained or bruised.

Age is catching you too. :P

Unless you're left handed. I think mine is along these (http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/generalshoulder/a/bankart.htm) lines. Repair is significant and rehab would suck. Had the angiogram/MRI done in March and have just put off the next visit since any surgery this year would kill at least the first two events next year. And since my ACL rehab was so bad I don't have any expectations that this would be any better.

Good luck my young friend.

Been searching the web trying to self diagnose. 8)

I am keeping my hopes up it isn't anything major as my "shoulder" doesn't hurt that badly. It feels like it is the Trapezoid ligament and Conoid ligament. The main pain occurs if I were doing a 2-3 shift.

My bet is a bad case of pussitis.

My bet is a bad case of pussitis. Probably; is it just sore? discolored? any limited mobility? did you land on your shoulder? arm out? by your side?

I wish I had a copy of my X-ray where my humerus looked like it was leaning against my ribs kinda like this:

http://www.togct.com/surg_procedures/images_surg_procd/labral_lesion_3.jpg

Yeah... it smarts. The best part is the X ray technician telling you to relax and put your arm down. But after a couple of times... you get used to it

Yes, yes, yes, yes, arm was by my side.
The bruise is currently yellow, I'm waiting to see if any neater colors appear.

LOL... I should've know that would get the Doc in here. No, it's nobody we know but the best picture I could find.

Mine was worse. I think it was the third time (Dr. Ron Love in the Clear Lake ER after a softball game. He tied me off to a PA and then used his 250+ LBs to pull on my wrist. Took two tries.); first time I got it back in.

While laying on the ground after crashing a BMX bike; landed Superman style. Couldn't lift my arm but could pull back and hold on. Had an old rodeo guy tape up my entire shoulder. Didn't really appreciate what I tore up... but I was only 15.

Second time it reduced itself leaning on a chair waiting in the ER.

4th was after another softball game.. bad combo of drugs... woke up throwing up...

Last one was Super Bowl '10 Sunday playing football with kids at church. Reduced by scapular manipulation. I tensed up too much on the first try so he doped me up a little. Second time worked like a charm.

I know, TMI; but if I ever dislocate it at the track you guys will never see me again. I've never looked at it written down. Man, that's a lot of pain and suffering over 25 years.

Yes; did the flouroscope thing (nothing like needing a real time x-ray so they can get the needle in the joint in the right place to then pump in some fluid so your shoulder feels like it's coming apart. In my case the tube popped off the needle and sprayed us.) and MRI and just need to get the Bankart Lesion diagnosis confirmed.

Pain is relative. To me it's just *really* uncomfortable.

My biggest fear is that since i was the 10%, 1 year long ACL rehab any shoulder rehab would be a BITCH.

NOTES: That ain't right. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_orifice_translumenal_endoscopic_surgery)

Had several separations during competitive swimming (3rd-7th grade)
First dislocation as a Senior in high school. Ran down the stairs, grabbed the bottom ballaster and it twisted out and down... major pain. Took good drugs (Versed) to reduce.
Second dislocation was a a freshman in college in the weight room doing a behind the head pulldown (now I know why they are so bad). Reduced it myself in the ER bed waiting on the doc by accident.
Third dislocation is where the story gets funny (but not as funny as a white cowboy outfit). I sneezed in the shower and dislocated it. This was probably back in 1997'ish. Didn't use any drugs in the ER, but I watched what the Doc did to reduce.
Fourth dislocation was the summer of '98 after falling out of an innertube at the lake (Michael was driving the boat). Took what I learned from the third disclocation reduction and did it myself with a chair at the lake.
After surgery (immediately after #4) to put back what was all torn up, no issues (12 years later)... figers are crossed it is a permanent solution.

After surgery (immediately after #4) to put back what was all torn up, no issues (12 years later)... figers are crossed it is a permanent solution. What was your rehab like?In a sling for six weeks. Started rehab immediately. 2-3 times per week for 30 minutes with the PT... That sucked. Range of motion was... scary, due to me thinking it was going to dislocate when we were trying to "max out". I had to do exercises at home for 9 months with therabands and very light free weights. I would say that I was at 90% within a year. I've never regained all the range of motion and I still favor the sholder when throwing a football or baseball. When I'm lifting weights, I just know what I can and can't do. It takes a bit more time to get blood into the joint, so there is some initial discomfort when lifting anything heavy.

However, given the option of having a "trick" shoulder that would dislocate as the wind blows, I would choose the surgery in a second. Mine was the 4" scar, open up the entire joint version. My experience was on the more severe end. If you can go ortoscopic, you may be able to heal up faster.

or you can go for Dr. Frank's "Natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery". I hear shoulder repair through the anus is the new rage with the "over 40" crowd. 8)

Jason & Jeremy,
Elvis Presley (January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977) was one of the most popular American singers of the 20th century. A cultural icon, he is widely known by the single name Elvis. He is often referred to as the "King of Rock and Roll" or simply "the King".

Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, Presley moved to Memphis, Tennessee, with his family at the age of 13. He began his career there in 1954 when Sun Records owner Sam Phillips, eager to bring the sound of African American music to a wider audience, saw in Presley the means to realize his ambition. Accompanied by guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black, Presley was one of the originators of rockabilly, an uptempo, backbeat-driven fusion of country and rhythm and blues. RCA Victor acquired his contract in a deal arranged by Colonel Tom Parker, who would manage the singer for over two decades. Presley's first RCA single, "Heartbreak Hotel", released in January 1956, was a number one hit. He became the leading figure of the newly popular sound of rock and roll with a series of network television appearances and chart-topping records. His energized interpretations of songs, many from African American sources, and his uninhibited performance style made him enormously popular—and controversial. In November 1956, he made his film debut in Love Me Tender.

Conscripted into military service in 1958, Presley relaunched his recording career two years later with some of his most commercially successful work. He staged few concerts, however, and, guided by Parker, proceeded to devote much of the 1960s to making Hollywood movies and soundtrack albums, most of them critically derided. In 1968, after seven years away from the stage, he returned to live performance in a celebrated comeback television special that led to an extended Las Vegas concert residency and a string of profitable tours. In 1973, Presley staged the first concert broadcast globally via satellite, Aloha from Hawaii, seen by approximately 1.5 billion viewers. Prescription drug abuse severely compromised his health, and he died suddenly in 1977 at the age of 42.

Presley is regarded as one of the most important figures of 20th-century popular culture. He had a versatile voice and unusually wide success encompassing many genres, including country, pop ballads, gospel, and blues. He is the best-selling solo artist in the history of popular music. Nominated for 14 competitive Grammys, he won three, and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at age 36. He has been inducted into four music halls of fame.

The King sold out the FedEx Forum for a concert with Elvis on screen and most all of the people that played with him (the TCB band, the Stamps, The Imperials, The Sweet Inspirations and Ronnie Tutt on drums) live. I was there and it was great. I missed the King when he came to Austin in 77 because even when he was old and fat you had to camp out all night prior to the day the tickets went on sale to get tickets. Also it was not considered cool in the late 70's for a teenager to be an Elvis fan. How many other singers could sell out the Forum's 18,500 seats thirty years after their deaths?
Here is what it looked like.

Basically. When I drove on Friday I never went hard and was just taking it easy.
In Saturday practice I was going about 95% and after the first lap had some pretty good pain. By lap 3 I could barely get my hand from the shifter to the wheel and came in early.
I thought it was some sort of shoulder damage that didn't appear until then but I guess the pressure just broke the bone apart.

Thanks again Darci, Sam, and Jason.

Oh man...I feel like a schmuck. I didn't see the heat stress signs and rushed to my home which is 2 miles from yours without giving you a hand or following you there. So sorry, Randy. I had a few folks I wanted to say goodbye to and blasted out of there.

no problem Todd. I felt that I could manage and you did offer your help. appreciate that. heat exhaustion has a funny way of effecting people. I believe that others could have been effected by the heat as wel and just didn't realize it.
Everything is good and 65F in Aberdeen. Thanks to all for your kindness and concern.

Last night actually...

Fired up the Beastie for the first time since Papa Johns Free Pizza night. And I thought FI cars were difficult.

I think the distributor is still off one tooth from preferred but since it's mech advance with magnetic pickup and the cable is 6' long, I have room to turn for timing. Nice to know it's back on the road to start sucking gas four barrels at a time.

Hey Ross, wanna hear what a real Camaro sounds like? You could bring over the SD card out of the GoPro.

Today, I found out that a home in the neighborhood belonged to WWE wrestler, Umaga (Edward Fatu) who died earlier this year. If you want to buy his house and live down the street...have at it. (Nice pool!)

He came from a pretty famous Samoan wrestler family, including, The Rock. Explains all the gangsta cars there were always parked there...that and the fact that it had a 2 car garage.

RIP Umaga....for all you wrestlers out there. (I never heard of him until today.)

Picked it up in '85 for $1600, 327/3 speed car. A little weird because it has the deluxe interior and even the speed warning indicator speedo. I put the Martz Chassis front end on it around 2001 when I put the 383/Richmond 6 in it. I'm ready for it to cool off so I can get it out and enjoy it.

Jerry I still have it in part because of all the stories of cars long gone and they're expensive to get back if you get rid of one.

I needed to replace the doggie door in the bedroom. The new one was slightly larger and I realized that I didn't own a jigsaw. Drill and circular saw yes, but no jigsaw.

Since I'm a Jimmie Johnson fan, I headed off to Lowes. Plenty of jigsaws but then I noticed that the wimpy blades they offered would be too short to cut both sides of the metal door at once, and would probably be too long to cut one side at a time.

The cutoff wheels looked interesting, but based on the amount of sparks that I've seen on TeeVee, they might burn the paint on the door.

So that left the reciprocating saws. As we all know from watching Tim Taylor, there is no substitute for "more power"!

I now have 9.5A of SKIL pure cutting power:

A reciprocating saw (aka, Sawzall) should be in everyone's garage. Good for trimming Christmas tree trunks/tree branches, to racecar brackets and everything in between. I've had one in my tool arsenal for ~20+ years.

Thanks everyone.

Knockhill was fun. A pretty good amount of elevation changes for such a short circuit, hence the illusion that the photographers are at track level when they were above/behind the tire wall. The other races were Porsche Cup, Ginetta G50 (cool looking cars!), Formula Renault, and Clio Cup cars making it a nice variety.

You guys are a great couple (team)... Just get her her own car for TT, then you can be the one on grid seting mirrors and turning on the cameras.......

Jay and I put the rebuilt Teksid blocked motor and new T5 (Astro Performance A5) in the car. Still have to put the intake on and re-wire it. Should be ready soon. Take an engine you have never done before apart way back in June and try to put it back together in mid Sept. I do everything at least twice. I had Jay put the trans fluid (Mercon V) in while he was tring to install the shifter but I forgot the driveshaft was not installed so I got a half quart on the stinking $hit all over the garage floor. Boy that stuff stinks (at least Valvoline Mercon V does).

Now I just need Wirtz to go with you and have G. Robertson spend another year with the three-oh motor in his car. And keep J. Love locked in a trailer and I might have a good '11.

I changed the rear pads (what was left of them) and YES, I used an inner and outer pair on each wheel this time and flushed the brake fluid.

Then on Sunday, Robertson helped the Bears record a 2-0 shutout win versus Boston University. Robertson played 90 minutes against both Indiana and BU and later helped his father, reknowned racer and philanthropical surgeon, Dr. Frank Robertson, R&R the engine and transmission from the Texas AI field covering Mustang Cobra before spending the remainder of the weekend volunterring at a local animal shelter.

So back in February, I posted about Chris Marvel getting injured in a scooter incident. Seems like it's time for an update:

Chris went through a few surgeries on his leg, has gone through months of rehab, and has generally been doing pretty good getting around. He even made it out to the last event at TWS and raced with us. Good stuff.

Without the ability to run or even walk for long distances, it's hard to get a good workout and get back in shape. Unless you can kayak. That provides an excellent workout using only your upper body. More good stuff.

Until Sunday that is. While trying to put his kayak on top of his truck, he slipped off of the step stool he was using and fell down, went boom. Result: fracture of his femur... in the same leg as before. After a ride to the hospital in an ambulance and more surgery, Chris is back home again with two more screws in his leg.

Apparently he was disappointed that he didn't set off every metal dector at every airport and wanted to ensure that he had enough metal in him to be delayed every time.

Hopefully he will be back up again and strong for the start of the new race season.

New break at a minimum. Imposible to tell if he rebroke the old stuff because there is too much metal in the way. There was no displacement so it's not actually relevant (expept for that pain thing).

Rush is my favorite band ever but Geddy Lee's voice will not hit the really high notes he used to hit. 2112 is one of the best Rock songs ever!

Saw Rush for the first time when they opened for Ted Nugent in Austin at the Armadillo World Headquarters in 1975. Great times!

We were also considering the big stones that look like giant bricks or the boulders, but I think the wall and slope will look less obvious yet still pack a punch.

Having a car to borrow while I do it my self... Priceless.

Note to self......NEVER buy a car that the alternator cost $590.00.

The one for my Lightning are higher than I would have thought. WOW!

Ask Cupcake Covini how much the alternator was going to cost on his Focus. I think it was about $1200 installed at a Ford dealer.

I was actually thinking the same thing. There is a nice looking used BMW 330i sitting on a car lot I drive by ever day and I was kind of thinking about seeing what I could get it for.....but I don't need a car with parts that expensive.

I've done this on my focus.
I'm sure it was mostly labor.
The car was built around the alternator.

Yup Jeff....car built around the alternator...and the Supercharger added on top!

I've pushed the car into the backyard and will get to the S/C upgrade and alternator replacement when I have time & money....next month hopefully. :?:

Pulled the drivetrain and a few last bits from 'ol #70 today w/ help from Mitch and Mike. Pulled the last of the wiring yesterday. Pushed the remaining hull to the back corner of the back yard.

I'm off to the garage now to see if the block is cracked. I found a freeze plug pushed out yesterday. The car has sat out in the trailer since I wrecked it. Seems we had a 24hr period where the temps sayed below freezing. I thought I was safe. Guess not. I had already removed the radiator and thought that was good enough.

I'll show you up at MSR-C.
